Came to Dockside Grill for our first dinner in Maine and were seated quickly (had reservations). The drinks were great, and the food was delicious — the Caesar salad with scallops was absolutely amazing.
Of course, we had to try the Bang Bang Shrimp and the chowder — both lived up to the hype and did not disappoint.
Overall, it was a great experience. While the service was a little slow, the place was packed — so just be patient and enjoy the time with family and friends.
Definitely recommend checking this place out — and don’t miss the Lobster Grilled Cheese!
Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection of adult beverages ranging from beer, wine and cocktails. Mushroom Risotto was phenomenal and the coconut curry sauce in the mussels was the best coconut curry I've had in a long time...we were tempted to drink it...needless to say we dipped SO MUCH bread in the sauce afterwards. Indoor and outdoor seating available with plenty of parking. We are new to living in the area and will absolutely be back!
First time this year at Dock side! Food was great! Mussels and fish tacos...the best! Never give a google review unless the establishment earns it! But even more important we were impressed with Sydney rhe bar tender! Beautiful but even more important customer focused. Sat us by a heater as it was breezy and cold today AND even ended up closing the glass doors to keep the cold out. She went above and beyond in customer service a rarity. Francisco our waitress suberb!!!..Dock Side is sooo... lucky to have good employees like this.
A really nice restaurant.
Service was great and the food was very good.
I got the steak & mashed potatoes. My family got fish and crab cakes and said they were very well made. My family is from rural Virginia so they love sea food.
We sat outside but in the shade at first. It’s was terrific we could move to a table outside in the sun because it was warmer there. Macey, our waitress, was friendly. Had to ask for my water glass to be refilled and wasn’t offered fresh cracked pepper on my salad, though (and I specifically asked for).
My dining partner had a wedge salad with a weirdly tasting salad dressing. Menu said cilantro ranch dressing. It tasted like dill ranch with some blue cheese crumbles on top. The two components just didn’t jive. Why mess with a classic BLUE cheese dressing? Also had the rosemary garlic fries - out of this world!!
I had the arugula/strawberry/pecan salad with balsamic vinegar with feta. I added crab cakes. They didn’t have a nice crust on the outside though. Feta was cubed and bland-absolutely no taste. I asked for fresh cracked pepper and received seriously dirty salt and pepper shakers. It’s the details, people.
This restaurant is in our town, it’s close and it’s on the water. We want to frequent it but $88 bucks with tip is a no-go for our experience. We’ll continue to frequent the Tavern, also on Falmouth. Consistently spot on there!

Made reservation and was told I'd have to be out of the restaurant in 90 minutes before the next reservation! That's a first! Seated in bar which was very noisy because of a local customer who was there just to drink. Loud and obnoxious! Food was very expensive for what I got-a steak and French fries. Not what I would call a dinner. Waitress checked back frequently. Would not go back. My last night in Maine-a big disappointment. But I was out in 45 minutes!

The phone recording states that parties of more than 5 should call ahead yet they never answered the phone. After 3 repeated tries we gave up and went somewhere else. Can't rate the food, I never was able to eat there.
Update: On the following evening, since they didn't answer the phone to take our reservation, we just went to the restaurant. When we arrived we followed the signs to the restaurant on the second floor. When we got to the second floor with my disabled parents there was a sign that said to check in downstairs at the patio entrance. We made the trek back downstairs and across the parking lot and up the ramp in the rain with two other groups that were as confused as we were only to be told that we couldn't be seated because we didn't have a reservation. Now I'm no dummy, but this place must think very little of it's potential customers since they don't care enough to have the decency to answer the phone after their message says to call and make a reservation and then send us on a wild goose chase just to be turned away at the entrance with half of us still standing in the rain. I wish you all of the bad luck that you have earned and deserve. I will vote with my wallet and never visit this establishment.

Food was tasty, hot, and plentiful. Service was prompt, efficient, and pleasant. Atmosphere was a little loud but not unbearable. We've been there and will definitely go again.

My favorite spot for grabbing a bite outside in Portland. Incredible to sit outside and inhale the salty sea air while chatting with friends and grabbing a drink.
