Made reservation and was told I'd have to be out of the restaurant in 90 minutes before the next reservation! That's a first! Seated in bar which was very noisy because of a local customer who was there just to drink. Loud and obnoxious! Food was very expensive for what I got-a steak and French fries. Not what I would call a dinner. Waitress checked back frequently. Would not go back. My last night in Maine-a big disappointment. But I was out in 45 minutes!

The phone recording states that parties of more than 5 should call ahead yet they never answered the phone. After 3 repeated tries we gave up and went somewhere else. Can't rate the food, I never was able to eat there.
Update: On the following evening, since they didn't answer the phone to take our reservation, we just went to the restaurant. When we arrived we followed the signs to the restaurant on the second floor. When we got to the second floor with my disabled parents there was a sign that said to check in downstairs at the patio entrance. We made the trek back downstairs and across the parking lot and up the ramp in the rain with two other groups that were as confused as we were only to be told that we couldn't be seated because we didn't have a reservation. Now I'm no dummy, but this place must think very little of it's potential customers since they don't care enough to have the decency to answer the phone after their message says to call and make a reservation and then send us on a wild goose chase just to be turned away at the entrance with half of us still standing in the rain. I wish you all of the bad luck that you have earned and deserve. I will vote with my wallet and never visit this establishment.
Great place for lunch.

Food was tasty, hot, and plentiful. Service was prompt, efficient, and pleasant. Atmosphere was a little loud but not unbearable. We've been there and will definitely go again.

My favorite spot for grabbing a bite outside in Portland. Incredible to sit outside and inhale the salty sea air while chatting with friends and grabbing a drink.

The atmosphere at Dockside Grill is fantastic due to its being right on the water. You can get off your boat and go right up to the bar for a beer after being on the water.
However, part of me gets the feeling that Dockside lets a few things go because they know they have a fabulous location.
I felt the hostess, instead of being warm and friendly, was terrified of her job and of me. She needs some support around greeting guests with a smile.
I also felt the server could have been more friendly. She was nice enough, but pretty cool.
I went to the ladies' room. It smelled of pee. Yes, you have a great location, but when the bathroom smells of pee, I feel I am in a gas station and not a lovely restaurant on the water.
I had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing and it was good.
My partner had a wrap which he loved. He also ordered the fish chowder which was very good but maybe too thick for my taste.
We do usually have great meals at Dockside Grill.

The restaurant is beautifully located on the water. Staff was smiley and friendly. Wasn't expecting such a small lunch menu and was hoping for new england clam chowder. Ordered the lobster and corn chowder. Very good but not was what I wanted. Fish and chips were good but not spectacular and my cole slaw was the size of a ketchup cup. Fries were cold. Ordered mousse for dessert it was so hard I couldn't get a spoon into it. Overall, not sure if I'll go back. Maybe try dinner.
