Sat downstairs in the pub area. Very nice! Tables are a little close to each other so sometimes hard to hear over other guests. Food was cooked perfectly and tasty!
Group of four of us went to the Oxford House for dinner last night, atmosphere is quaint and pleasant. Our waitress wasn’t super friendly and they started turning the lights off while we were still finishing our dessert! After spending close to $500 on dinner, felt like we were being rushed out. I do have to say the food was amazing!!! Scallops, octopus, chicken and pork were cooked perfectly. Wish their staff was as amazing as the food, a little disappointed.
I have been there many times and always enjoyed it. But this time, I took my sister and my 25 year old niece for her birthday. My niece is a lawyer. She wanted to order a glass of wine but the waitress asked for id . In fact she insisted for her passport because we are Canadian. A passport in a restaurant for a 25 year old lawyer !!?? Needless to say she did not have her passport. I asked to see the manager. My niece had a photo of her passport on her phone. Same refusal by the manager ! Too scared to loose their liquor licence she said. A good manager must use common sense and use judgement in the decision process. This manager was not able to do so and failed poorly. Otherwise, service was good ( aside the fact the she brought to out table and poor one glass of the wrong bottle). Food was good but we left with a bitter taste and not sure if i would ever go again. Not sure they are getting a lot of Canadians these days...
Always a good experience at the Oxford House Inn. The food is delicious and carefully prepared and presented. The service is attentive. The ambience is old New England and is very attractive. My husband and I go there regularly for a special occasions.
Meal was delicious and nice quiet ambiance and beautiful house and views makes for lovely evening
Beautiful atmosphere, friendly owner and staff and the food was truly wonderful. We have been here before and always left happy and relaxed.
Food was outstanding, serving staff attentive and owner/host is very pleasant and friendly. Interior of the main dining room offers beautiful wood work and attractive decor. Moderate priced. I would recommend this restaurant.
It is always a pleasure to dine at the oxford house. The staff is friendly, professional and courteous. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is quintessential Maine. we absolutely love it there. Highly recommend!
This was my second visit to Oxford house. The first time was perfect! Great atmosphere, service and the food was amazing. I had high hopes upon returning but was convinced it could not be as good as my first visit. I was wrong! This was one of the best meals I've ever had! We started with the scallops app and we cleaned the plate! I got the filet for my entree, and it was truly the best I've ever had! Perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth. Finished off with the bread pudding, which was amazing, but so decadent, we had to take half of the huge serving home. It's rare that every course of your meal can be described as some of the best food you've ever eaten, but that was my experience here! It's a little on the pricier side, so more for special occasions for me, but absolutely worth every penny! Highly recommend!
Wonderful food! The roasted Statler chicken, Duroc pork chop and bolognese were all excellent. And the evening's special appetizer of creamy clam chowder was above and beyond!

The restaurant offers a lovely ambiance, with a particularly beautiful view from the rear dining area that enhances the overall experience. The food was satisfactory—neither exceptional nor disappointing. However, I would advise against ordering mixed drinks. I tried an Old Fashioned, which unfortunately was poorly executed and undrinkable. Having sampled many variations of this cocktail, I found this one to be the worst. I returned it and opted for a straight whiskey instead, assuming the original drink would be removed from the bill, but it was not. I ordered the Filet Mignon, though I suspect I may have received a different cut or a lower-grade filet than expected. That said, the mashed potatoes were outstanding—rich, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the entrée. The blueberry pie was also excellent and worth recommending. Service was generally efficient, though our server gave the impression that our presence was somewhat inconvenient. Nonetheless, she fulfilled her duties adequately.
The best place we have ever stayed by far!! Quiet, cozy and very personal, truly treated like a guest. Spacious room, extremely comfortable king, temperature controlled to our comfort. The food was exceptional, worth every penny. Owners and staff are polite and very friendly. We will be back!!
25 years ago I proposed to my wife here, once our favorite place so memories are fond. Today I ordered salmon medium. It came cooked through, dry. I mentioned to the server and she told me that “well I told them, but thanks for letting me know”. Then walked away. Huh? No attempt to make this right. Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry. I will admit the scallops were awesome. I’m disappointed by server which I still tipped. Not sure why. Wont be back.
Everything was perfect!!!! The front desk person and also the staff including Kim, our waitress, were fabulous!!!! Food was delicious!!!! The environment was pleasant. My son, daughter in law and their two friends really enjoyed every minute of their time at Oxford House Inn!!!!! We would love to be there again and have Kim as our waitress. She was really outstanding and was able to communicate with us easily as we are deaf. We will always remember this.
The bbq duck 🤯. SO Good! My family and I always start with their onion rings and French fries as an app. It is a must!
