My wife and I have been going here since they opened. I am guilty of almost never remembering to post reviews. Way overdue on this one. The staff is friendly, and the food consistently great. Real, actual house smoked meats! The coffee is good & strong! A true local mom & pop restaurant.
Everything about blue pig is my favorite! Best brunch spot in southern Maine.

I stopped in here Monday 9/16/24 and ordered food to go. I'm visiting Portland and have noticed an abundance of corned beef hash reviews claiming "best of my life". This place had many accolades and a good menu, but I screwed up. I ordered the Irish Benedict which was with corned beef and completely missed it was just corned beef, not hash. It was still great and included potatoes, but wasn't what I was expecting. The corned beef hash meal includes eggs and toast I will say the poached eggs were beautiful (for the life of me, I can't make them), but the hollandaise sauce was.... off?? They put it in a separate container thankfully, but yeah usually the sauce is what makes a Benedict incredible. This was just not good and I stuck with no sauce. The corned beef certainly added flavor. Maybe they didn't use real butter or add enough lemon.
Also this isn't really a diner. I ordered at the bar which was where everyone was mainly seated.

1 brunch menu can feed 2-3 people easily. I came for the pancake but end up with corned beef with muffin and medium cook egg (delicious) and a side of pancake. The side of a pancake is actually super jumbo 1 stack pancake that cost $4.5. Their portion is unbelievable huge (not complaining) on top of that the quality of food is great !!! The corned beef is excellent, I take half of everything to go and reheat the next day and still can't finished
Just be aware, service is kinda slow. U have to sit yourself and people are good about who's turn to get the table. They are just slammed so if you are in a hurry like me, you have to plan the timing to order, get the to go box, also to get the check in advanced. I got the last part in 1 sentence so it's kinda fast.
It's normal brunch place, no frill and quite relax.

Excellent french toast. Good quality bacon. Good drinks. Don't care for the seat yourself. If it's busy then it's up to you to figure out where you're in line to get a table. Luckily for us all the people waiting were great.

I have ordered here before and got the Eggs Benedict and Bloody mary which were both delicious! Today I ordered a Bloody Mary which was good, but give me a couple normal size pieces of celery in my drink without all that roughage of leaves all over it..it ruins the cocktail! I ordered an Omelette today and was NOT impressed at all..I got an Omelette with Swiss cheese, Sausages and Mushrooms..the mushrooms were Burnt and it was a very small omelette and very Greasy! Any other place I have ever eaten breakfast at ..they make you a good size omelette. Also, I ordered rye toast and they literally gave me one slice of bread cut in half..I have never even heard of that in any restaurant I have EVER been to ..they always give you 2 slices of bread cut into 4 slices for your toast..talk about cheap when I am paying $14.00 for my omelette? Eggs and bread are not expensive items to make for a breakfast..? The home fries were very good though..but they could give you a little more food! I should NOT walk out of the restaurant still Hungry! Very Disappointed!!? My waitress was very nice though and still got a great tip! ? For me..Eggs Benedict only here for breakfast and hopefully they have a better selection on their lunch menus!!?

This place was very busy on a Saturday morning. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Food was good. I had chicken and waffles. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere.
