The waitress was wonderful My omelet was overcooked and you needed a magnifying glass to see it
This was the 3rd Thanksgiving dinner our family has had at the Sedgely Place. Always an enjoyable experience here, any time of year. Comfortable, country inn atmosphere. Staff is cheerful, eager to please, and prompt. And always, delicious entrees and desserts! The only thing that we needed was a small side of cranberry sauce and gravy when plated with the turkey dinner. No problem, as the young lady serving our table was quick to supply our table with our requests. (As the wait-staff must run up and down the stairs, I'm sure they would appreciate not having the extra trip!) Overall, a delightful dinner and we look forward to a return visit. Thank you, to our server Kayley, for a lovely experience!
If you want a quiet place to dine this is it. We have been going here for many years and it has always been a great place to dine. Service is excellent the waitresses are very attentive. The food was great as always. The Chef and owner, came out to check on the service and meals. If you have never been, you need to experience it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary brunch, especially when the server brought out two flutes with a bit of bubbly for us to toast while awaiting the mimosas. That extra touch was a pleasant surprise. The omelets were delicious and the service spot on.
Great service! Amazing food! Country charm!
We were seated promptly once we had arrived. Waitress greeted us within five minutes of being seat and was super friendly the entire meal, which was good. I mentioned that it was cold in the room but nothing was done; I sat throughout the whole meal freezing (almost two hours). The night also started out with some light jazz music that was live from another room and it was nice but after an hour it ended and it was complete silence which was awkward, they could have at least had some light music playing the ground. Besides taking the order and dropping off the food the waitress went missing, did not see them for at least 20 minutes at time multiple times, which was frustrating because of being cold and some of our food not being cooked correct. I ordered a Filet Mignon and ask it to be medium, the waitress delivered our entrées and left right after. They did not ask to make sure our meat was the right temp and my filet was well done and a bit dry. Of course that was one the times we did see them again for 20 minutes and at that point I was not going to ask for another because I was freezing and wanted to go home. For the amount that we paid for the meal I would expect the waitress to verify that our food was to our liking but that never happen. I felt like I get better service at Applebee's, Longhorn, etc.. But overall the food was very good (even the overcooked filet was tasty), but due to service and atmosphere we probably will not return.
Almost $300 for 2 people with no bottle of wine. My wife and I have been coming here for years and there is just no longer a welcome that we used to feel. We understand it is under new management, but prices are outrageous for the poor quality food and inexperienced flow of the restaurant. Menu confusing, food is tepid, service is awkward and makes us miss the old Sedgley. Will not be returning.

My family has been coming here for years to celebrate all the milestones in our lives, and sadly, I don’t think that will be the case any longer. We were aware that Sedgley Place had been sold and hoped it would be a positive change, but it seems that is not the case. Sedgley is fine dining no more, but you wouldn’t know it from the outrageous prices.
Arrival:
There is no longer a welcoming carafe of chilled water and water goblets. It was disappointing because I always appreciated it and thought it was charming. Water doesn’t cost anything, which I think is why they eliminated this. These new owners don’t want to treat you like a guest, they just want you to spend more.
The food:
By fine dining standards, the all of the food is subpar and the menu is all over the place. It’s pretty obvious that whoever put this together is inexperienced and/or has poor taste. The menu strangely doesn’t have descriptions under each entree anymore. I suspect this place is no longer farm to table…
The appetizers:
The appetizer choices are terrible and tacky. Egg roll du jour?!? This isn’t asian fusion! No one wants overpriced caprese or meatballs. Is this Asian/italian fusion?!? 🤦♀️ The only decent appetizers both had shellfish; stuffed mushrooms and the shrimp cocktail (which, btw, the waitresses used to go around the dining room offering to you).
The drinks:
I’ve always loved the cocktails here because they were very, very good. Now, there’s no sangria and the cocktails are FAR too sweet…and you won’t have any water to wash it down.
The entrees:
The meat entrees all have the same sides now (but you don’t know what you’re getting because there’s no description 😡). The prime rib portion is smaller and it’s just not as good as it used to be. Whoever is doing the cooking is using far too much garlic on everything. Don’t get me wrong, I love garlic. But over using it is a sign of an inexperienced cook. The tomahawk steak is a red flag. Shock value does not equal fine dining.
The dessert:
Unimpressed and underwhelming. Several people at my table ordered the sundae-the owners should be embarrassed by what was served. Dairy Queen serves more impressive sundaes. You’d think a fine dining establishment would be serving something at least as good as a Fielder’s choice sundae. Besides, a sundae is a cop out. Where is the crème brûlée? The chocolate mousse? We also tried the cheesecake and once again, underwhelming.
The service:
I suspect there has been a turnover all around because the service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress was clearly inexperienced. The service here used to have such a nice flow-it made the evening so pleasant and enjoyable. Everyone used to be so attentive. Now you’re either waiting too long or they’re bringing things out too fast and rushing you. We’d hardly finished our appetizers before they were bringing soups and salads. Then one person at our table was not served their salad and our waitress never realized it. We were waiting so long for our entrees that the waitress actually came over and apologized-and said that the cook was behind 😲. It sounds like your kitchen is a disaster too.
We paid over $500 for a party of four. I feel like for what we got for that money, I need a word more outrageous than outrageous. If it was the old Sedgley, I would have chalked it up to the increasing food prices. Of course, that is part of it…but I also feel like these new owners are trying to squeeze blood from a stone. The experienced and good staff probably quit in protest (because they clearly were ruining Sedgley) and now it’s a place that hoodwinks people who think Longhorn’s is good food into spending beau coups bucks.

We drove 45 minutes to The Sedgley Place to celebrate our father's 96th birthday. The atmosphere was intimate, our server Courtney was especially attentive and added a lovely vibe to the festivities. The ambiance was wonderful. We rarely eat out because the expense often doesn't match the expectations. Congratulations on delivering an extraordinary meal experience.

We had a birthday dinner for my 96 year old grandfather here. There were 9 of us and they accommodated us no problem. The food was great, the atmosphere was very nice but our waitress Courtney R. Made the night even better. Anything we needed was no problem and her personality made it a fun time.
Great job.

We had a group of 9 celebrating a 96th birthday and had the best experience! The food was great, the people were so nice, but our waitress, Courtney, really made this experience incredible. She was not only super friendly, but she had a great sense of humor, knew the menu well, and truly listened to our needs. For a large group that is a lot to ask for. She was the best waitress I’ve ever had… the Sedgley Place is so lucky to have her! ❤️
