Spectacular cuisine in a spectacular setting. Service was superb. Beef dish was amazing. Nothing I can say bad about the experience but of course it isn’t inexpensive.

We stayed at the Blair Hill Inn and had the most amazing dinner + wine service. Some of the best meals we've had in a really long time - perfectly seasoned, cooked, and delicious coursed meal.

Fantastic tasting menu (we got the vegetarian and regular, both were excellent) in the beautiful historic Blair Hill Inn.

The specialty cocktails were also very good.

Thanks for having us!

We do our best to visit Slate at Blair Hill Inn every August, and have been doing so for many years. It has been consistently excellent, with thoughtfully prepared and creative dishes and superb service. The owner is typically present during the dinner hour and always pitching in with her crew of knowledgable servers. We are always more adventurous with our menu selections here and are never disappointed. The wine list is excellent as well, and the bar produces great cocktails. Sitting out on the deck of the Blair Hill Inn watching the sunset is one of the most fabulous experiences to have if you're in the Moosehead Lake region. Highly recommended and we're already looking forward to our next visit!

The setting is beautiful, and the views are exceptional. Unfortunately, the praise ends there. They sat us 4 feet away from a pedestal fan blowing directly at us. The first 2 courses were billed as the chef's choice. One was asparagus, prosciutto, and a diced boiled egg. The other, sliced zucchini and cucumber in a bowl with feta cheese. Nothing particularly thoughtful or requiring laudable culinary skill here. All dishes were excessively salty. You could barely taste any element aside from salt... My main course was halibut that I had trouble cutting into because it wasn't properly cooked. It appeared pink and translucent, not at all the buttery flakiness one would expect. I did bring this to a staff member's attention. I had to wave her over because our server never came to check on us. They did remove this item from our bill. My husband ordered the steak for his main. While he is too polite to ever make a fuss, he was even surprised by how salty the dish was, and he loves salt. They did not ask how he wanted his steak cooked, and it arrived almost raw with quite a bit of fat. We paid well over $300 for this meal (including drinks and a tip). A tragic disappointment.

My in laws have been bringing us here for the last 5 years and it is such a treat every time. The cocktails and food are unmatched. The stunning views are complimented by the cozy interior. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

Magical location and meal. Hillside full views to Moosehead Lake and mountains. Imaginative and carefully prepared food, fine wines and liquors, perfect service.

My order - halibut - was very salty and I sent it away. I then ordered an oyster appetizer and was surprised to get only 4 small oysters which were good but not worth the price. My wife ordered shrimp which were slightly less salty than my meal but was delicious nonetheless. Overall, it did not live up to the hype and certainly was not worth the price that I paid. I will only return if my wife wishes it.

I have visited this restaurant a few times and it is consistently incredible food, drinks, and service. Their menu changes regularly (sometimes multiple variations in a week) to make the best use of the freshest ingredients. I had a bone marrow appetizer, a lamb porterhouse, and a cherry and pecan sundae, as well as their wonderful fresh bread. The atmosphere is charming, and the view from the porch cannot be beat! It’s worth going out of the way for.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a recent trip to Moosehead Lake. Fine dining at it's best. Every single thing we ordered was outstanding. We started our meal with Oysters and Lobster Bisque and the fresh bread they provided. The bread was warm and crusty and came with decadent compound butter. For entrees my husband ordered the pork chop and I had the diver scallops and both were absolutely delicious. Some of the best food we've ever eaten. The atmosphere was peaceful and the service was top notch.
