The gold standard for what a quality restaurant should be. Attentive and friendly waitstaff, wheelchair accessibility, and excellent food.

I started my meal with a cup of the lobster stew. Large pieces of scrumptious lobster. If I hadn't been in public, I'd have picked the bowl up to drink the broth. Though I did finish it with my spoon.

Entree was crab cakes, baked potato and asparagus - all done to perfection. The crab cakes had a fine outer crispness with delicious crabby softness inside.

Hope I'm back next year so I can enjoy another delicious meal here.

Most outstanding Maine cuisine. We had the de-shelled lobster between two crab cakes. Absolutely worth the drive over from Bar Harbor. Make a reservation, it was very full.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. Terrific food, attentive service and they're not pushy to get you out like some restaurants are. Fair prices for upscale dining. We'll be back.

Was in Maine for one week and this was hands down the best meal that we experienced during our trip. All of the food was freshly prepared, the portions were perfect, and all of the dishes were exceptional. The haddock chowder is a MUST and the crab cakes were lovely. Our bartender Michelle was amazing, too. Would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone in the area.

The only reason I did not rate a 5 was because service was a bit slow and some people are bothered by that. We were on vacation and were not put off by the slow, but very friendly service. I had the Seafood Pasta w/Fra Diavolo sauce. Oh my. So much seafood--scallops, shrimp, lobster--and delicious sauce. The pasta was VERY good. I wish I could have taken leftovers and the next day I was still thinking about the pasta left in my bowl! Highly recommend for pleasant atmosphere, great food, friendly service.

Friend recommended this place. Said the chowder best he ever ate. It was good but not the best I ever had. Portions were small and the price was high. I had bowl of chowder which was not a lot. My wife had salad and we completed wasted 14.95 on shrimp cocktail. Had 6 shrimp with tiny amount of cocktail sauce. Not worth it at all. The service was good. Server very nice. Took 30 minutes to get what we ordered. We were very first customers in at 5:00pm. Menu had lots of selections and I’m sure other dishes were good. They are always booked up. Just bring lots of cash.

We were visiting Maine, and while watching the grandkids swim at a park, a local lady was telling us about places we should try. Chipper's was one she highly recommended. I checked out their website and we decided to give it a try. Had I just passed this on the side of the highway (sort of in the middle of nowhere), I wouldn't have even considered it or taken notice, as there's nothing about the exterior that jumps out at you. But inside, it's something else. There were eight of us in our group, ranging in age from 3 to 74. Four adults, four kids. I would definitely recommend reservations, especially if you have a group our size. They easily accommodated us and were ready when we arrived. The service was exceptional. Every person working there made us feel welcome. There was no rushing us or frustration with trying to get four kids to decide what they wanted to eat. They had what I considered a large menu for such a small restaurant. By the time we had finished, we'd tried a large variety of different foods, ranging from appetizers to dessert. We ordered an assortment of appetizers, all of which went over exceedingly well with everyone. Their version of oysters Rockefeller were extremely tasty and were my favorite of the things we tried. Some of the meals came with a bisque made with haddock, and those went so quickly that I believe we actually ordered more. I would describe this as a leisurely place to dine. Do not go if you are wanting to eat in a rush and get out quickly. Also, while the place is very nice indoors, almost elegant, we were welcomed in our summer attire of shorts and t-shirts. Each one of us was delighted with our meals. I had seafood au gratin that was exceptional. A couple of our group had steak. One of the kids had lobster mac'n'cheese. I can testify that each person walked out the door saying it was one of the best meals they'd had...not just in Maine, but anywhere. I cannot say enough about how helpful and pleasant the wait staff was during our entire meal. We were never rushed, never crowded, but always helped with anything we needed. This included accompanying us to the parking lot and taking our group photo before we left. This is NOT an inexpensive place to eat. But it was worth every penny for us. We will definitely be going back on our next annual visit to Maine. As I recall, the tab (before tip) was in the range of $350-375 (June 2025). So you can call it roughly $50 per person. But again, that included mixed drinks, beer, appetizers, main meals, and desserts, plus tax. I paid the bill and felt like we definitely got our money's worth. I hope you feel the same way if you give it a try!

This place is so cozy. The menu is enormous. So much to choose from. Steaks, seafood, poultry. Each entree comes with a sample portion of Haddock chowder and this stuff is dangerous due to the fact that you would eat this chowder all evening and forget to order anything else. Sample portion is great but you should order a full bowl! Service is amazing and atmosphere perfect any time of year but really nice in January.
Thank you for an awesome dinner!
