The hours here are listed until 1:00 PM. My dad and I went. We entered into the restaurant at 12:45...it was seat yourself. We sat. After sitting there for about 10 minutes, someone came over to us and told us the restaurant was closed...this was still before 1:00. Disappointing to day the least. My husband is in food service and closing times are understandable, but the signage should indicate that orders end 15 minutes before closing or at least turn off your open sign!
Not being open on a Monday? Come on... I know people need there rest, but madawaska is in dire need of places to eat and seeing this place take special time off in an already dwindling and deserted industry is disappointing.
We stopped off in Madawaska while travelling through northern Maine. One of our group has severe gluten allergies. Chez Helen had great options on the menu for people with, and without, gluten allergies. We found good portions, reasonable prices and a friendly atmosphere. Would visit again!
