My dish was the cod and it was the smallest portion ever (smaller than actual nice restaurants would serve) I don’t think I’ve ever had au gratin and peas for my seasonal vegetables, and I’m pretty sure they were slacked out. Honestly just disappointed that this place takes advantage of people who are trying to have a nice night out and don’t know that the dishes are not even close to worth the price. Would have rather gone to Burger King. Also the place was cold and menus looked like they were made in someone’s garage with scraps.

The history and location make this a place you have to to. The food was very good but is pretty pricey. Reports from our party of 5 are:- French Onion Soup - 4.5 stars (4 people had it) but beware that it comes to the table too hot to eat.- Clams with Linguine - 5 stars. These are small clams (not like Steamers) and there were alot of them.- Pork Loin - 5 stars- Truffles & Cheese Sacchetti - 4 stars- Steak Au Poivre - 3.5 stars. Two peopl had this and while the filet was perfectly cooked and a great cut of beef, there was simply too much coarse pepper encrusting it and the result was over powering the rest of the flavors. The service started out good, but as the dining room filled it fell apart. At the end we waited for over 10 minutes for a box to take a dessert home in and had to ask for it multiple times.

My family and I have frequented this restaurant for years and I have always found the food to be excellent and deserving of praise and the hefty price tags....until now. Today, I experienced their southwestern "smash burger". Granted a smash burger tends to be a bit on the thin side and a direct indicator of a cook's inability to cook meat, I still assumed, at $21, this was going to be a smash burger like no other. I was wrong. Not only was the burger about 1/4" thick/thin, it was also heavily charred and devoid entirely of moisture. I didn't know if I was supposed to eat the patty or rest my water glass on it. And though "southwestern" does imply some spice to it, any decent cook would understand that soaking the burger in Chipotle sauce denies a consumer of enjoying literally any other flavor. Between this burger, its rubbery potato chips and the eggs Benedict I had a few weeks ago with a broke hollandaise sauce, I can't say as though I'm likely to give lakewood another chance until I know the kitchen is up to par.

Gorgeous location, atmosphere/ambiance. Great spot if you wanna get dressed up & feel like you're stepping back in time. The duck wanton tacos were so bright, fresh & uniquely delicious! The roasted Brussel sprouts were yummy as well. The lamb chops were extra gamey tasting, but the risotto was to die for! Truffle tortellini were tasty but dry - the dish really needed at least a light cream sauce or even just a generous drizzle of EVOO... the apps & desserts took the spot light. We ordered desserts from the top secret Speakeasy Menu - grilled peaches w/a divine vanilla marscapone cream and then a decadently delicious turtle lava cake. Service was friendly.

Fantastic place! The drink menu is amazing- pages and pages of both classics and unique. Appetizers are shareable - we had the three cheese dip, fried goat cheese, and duck tacos. All were exceptional. The entrees were equally yummy. I had the seafood scampi, which had generous helpings of shrimp, crab, scallops, and lobster. The scallops were especially well cooked - not rubbery at all - they melt in your mouth!

We were the first ones here when the restaurant opened, so we had a lovely private dinner. The food was fantastic! I ordered an appetizer of broiled(?) Brussels sprouts, pistachio nuts and golden raisins. At my request, they left off the balsamic-port reduction. It was the best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had. (I thought that the Brussels sprouts appetizer that I order at another restaurant was great, but it doesn’t hold a candle to this one. My husband agreed that they were the best Brussels sprouts he had ever tasted. For my main course, I ordered Arroz Con Pollo— a Spanish dish of chicken and saffron rice. It has always been a favorite dish of mine, and again, it was exceptionally good. The portion was generous, and I was delighted to have enough to take some of the delicious saffron rice home.My husband ordered short ribs. They came covered with mushrooms and and onions, on a bed of mashed potatoes with sautéed summer squash on the side. He raved about the entire meal.

The atmosphere was lovely. The dinner menu is highly overpriced and the food was not seasoned. Maybe they were having an off night. Small portions at top dollar

We attended Friday, 26 August. Two had swordfish which was dry and overcooked. One ordered Brandie’s salmon which was a better selection. One ordered Asian salad with steak, which was mostly overcooked and tough. The French onion soup and the shaved Brussels sprouts salad were good. The desserts, chocolate torte and a six layer chocolate cake were great! Four meals, two mixed drinks, three glasses of wine, two desserts and four entrees totaled $211. Although restaurant was busy before the show, our Server was good.

The place is beautiful! The glasses in dining room with the lake right there. You can wear whatever you want and be comfortable. Delish food!! Staff are wonderful! I love it here so much!!

Delish dinner..poached lobster and seafood scampi. Apps, onion soup..eh, not great, tasted like broth, no onions and missing melted cheese. The brussell sprout salad was good but grossly over priced for arrugala and brussell sprouts...$12! I would skip the apps, there was plenty on main entree.

This was a great place, one of the nicest I have experienced in a long time. Service was great, felt like I was dining at home. Appetizers were excellent, try the Duck Tacos or the Cream de Brie. Main course was well presented and a visual treat. First look was the main course was over complicated but I was wrong and all blended well for a great tasting meal ( chicken breast breaded in ). Deserts were delishious peanut butter pie and rainbow cake were very good. This is a great place for a nice dinner and show

Best place for brunch in Skowhegan. Hands down. Worth the wait if you get there too late. Haven't tried dinner yet, but I've heard wonderful things. Wish they were open all year!!
