I have eaten here a number of times and have to say that the food is excellent, very well priced and the staff is fantastic! Plus, it's a great place to meet and chat with locals. 5 Stars!

Our server Beau was exceptional. He had the whole dining room to himself. About seven tables but one was party of ten. Yes. We had to be patient. But he was working hard with a smile and kept it going. Very hard to be in the weeds and not make it look that way. But. He made eye contact. Addressed the tables hello even if he couldn’t get to them. Showed great multi tasking skills. Very impressed! And he was probably not even eighteen. Amazing. Sorry Beau if you are older. You look young. :). Anyway. Please let Beau know that we think he’s awesome.

Our second restaurant in Milbridge and 44° is another win for us! Great food, great service, fantastic staff and all in all people are very kind and friendly here. WARNING: Do yourself a major favor. MAKE A RESERVATION! We did, and we're seated within a couple minutes on a very busy Friday night. Those who hadn't made a reservation waited a long while. Planning ahead changes experiences.

Vacationing in Maine, on the coast...eat seafood they say. What could go wrong? Well, eating here was a mistake we won't make twice. Food was horrible and we felt bad for the waitstaff for having to deliver it. Fried haddock was literally frozen Mortons fishsticks!

Fried clams were great! Very sweet and fresh, light batter almost like tempura. Good house made French fries. Allagash white was on tap, cold, served with big slice of orange the way it should be.

To start off the drinks were the worst we ever had! The Long Island ice tea we ordered didn’t even come close to what it should taste like. Then we ordered kettle one and cranberry and asked for a double kettle one. Not what we got! Worst part was we watched our server pour drinks for her friends that were obviously stronger while ours were mostly cranberry. We wouldn’t have been upset if we didn’t see her pouring them. Then we got our food and it was a dried out mess . The salmon was so dry I took it home for my dog. The baked potato was barely cooked and I couldn’t even get her to bring back butter for it because she was too busy catering to her friends. We only get out once a month and look forward to it but our experience here was terrible and we won’t be back. I have worked in food service before in my time and you never know who you’re serving so you should treat each customer the same. But she didn’t seem to care about what we saw or how we were served. So my next food column will not be kind to 44 North!

I am hopeful due to the other reviews it is just an off day, although we did order some very very basic entrees for our first try. The 2nd star is because the mozzerlla half rounds were good. Shrimp scampi was very very very overcooked pasta, okay shrimp, no seasoning what so ever. I could taste just a hint of wine but it tasted mostly like old pasta water and after a few forced bites i couldnt eat any more of it. I tried to season it more myself to no avail. The alfredo was very bland. I am not a picky eater by any means, I'm content with gas station food and even pasta with some butter but this was bad bad. I am thinking the angel hair for the scampi was overcooked by at least 6 minutes, and the fettuccine for the alfredo was undercooked slightly leaving me to concur they were both put to boil at the same time and not timed out what so ever. The boneless wings were very dry and more like bits of chicken. The sauce for them was decent but the chicken itself was not worth the $8 for the amount you get. I understand maybe the chef or cook quit and someone was left to deal with the orders but even someone with basic skills should be able to boil pasta, if it was cheaper we'd consider a retry later but it's not worth the risk for the cost.

Just showed up for a couple beers. The bartender was great, and it wasn't busy but the couple people that were there were friendly. Definitely will go back.
