It's not easy to stand out in a place as rich in top-notch eateries as the greater Portland area - I thought I had seen it all, and then Trudy Bird came to town. I would have given them points just for being original, but then I tasted what they had to offer... suffice it to say, I have a new understanding of what the intersection of fine dining and comfort food looks like (hint: it's called Æbelskivers). I wouldn't be surprised to see the brothers Hines someday credited with personally making Scandanavian fare a mainstay of international cuisine in the US. Five stars - keep up the great work.

This restaurant is a true gem! The interior is beautifully designed and cozy, the staff is so welcoming and helpful and the food was very unique and tasty. We loved our Aquavit cocktails, open faced sandwiches, and the shaved brussel sprout salad was delicious. I'm thrilled that we've got such a great option nearby.

Come in and treat yourself to Chef Alan's Restaurant Week Prix-Fix menu. The velvety rich Roasted Corn Bisque is a highlight, along with the aromatic and tasty Aquavit's to sample (they have a nice range to choose from.) Fresh and creative! Can't wait to go again.

We just had a wonderful meal at Trudy Birds. The atmosphere, wait staff, food, and experience were all amazing. So glad to have discovered this great spot!

This is a hidden gem outside of Portland, with such good food and service, it is definitely worth the drive! Effortlessly cool atmosphere, small but perfect wine list, and the Scandinavian-inspired small plates are so thoughtful and delicious!

I went in with 3 others for dinner on a Wednesday night. Staff was helpful and friendly and talked us through the Scandinavian style menu. We sipped on aquavit to start and then ordered shishitos, beef tartar and the fried chicken appetizer. We added the open faced smoked salmon, meatballs and shrimp sandwiches. Good flavors, but can be heavy with the bread. Was definitely fun to try a new cuisine. Great job Hines brothers!

Lovely place; such a gem. The food is delicious; really high quality and fresh! The staff is super chill and welcoming, as well. Lots of great options from the Danish open faced sandwiches to specialty hotdogs, a smash burger, and a very tasty brusell sprout salad! Also, the Danish donuts are mouth watering...you definitely want to save room for those!

I love Trudy’s. The atmosphere , staff and owners are so fabulous. The food is great for me as they are small delicious meals. The drinks are so fun and creative. Oh and I love my niece who is most attentive to everyone she is around.

What a refreshing, high quality dining experience. My wife and I decided to try this Nordic themed establishment for a special occasion and we were not disappointed. The clean, wood stove ambiance coupled with the Cocktails, Aquavit, appetizers and open faced fare were top tier. The service was spectacular (Alison did an amazing job) and we will definitely be dining there again. Thank you for such a great night!

Lovely local restaurant with delicious plates, lovely drinks, and attentive, enjoyable staff.My only suggestion for improvement would be to lower the ceiling lighting a bit to enable a more cozy (hygge) atmosphere. :)
