It's not easy to stand out in a place as rich in top-notch eateries as the greater Portland area - I thought I had seen it all, and then Trudy Bird came to town. I would have given them points just for being original, but then I tasted what they had to offer... suffice it to say, I have a new understanding of what the intersection of fine dining and comfort food looks like (hint: it's called Æbelskivers). I wouldn't be surprised to see the brothers Hines someday...
This restaurant is a true gem! The interior is beautifully designed and cozy, the staff is so welcoming and helpful and the food was very unique and tasty. We loved our Aquavit cocktails, open faced sandwiches, and the shaved brussel sprout salad was delicious. I'm thrilled that we've got such a great option nearby.
Come in and treat yourself to Chef Alan's Restaurant Week Prix-Fix menu. The velvety rich Roasted Corn Bisque is a highlight, along with the aromatic and tasty Aquavit's to sample (they have a nice range to choose from.) Fresh and creative! Can't wait to go again.
