The food was excellent. Portions we on the small side. Very expensive to eat here. Service was exceptional and on point. Never had to ask for anything, it was brought to yo before you had to ask for it. The ambiance was excellent. It's in an old house which made the ambiance excellent. Would recommend this restaurant

First off I want to say the staff was absolutely great and very sweet. The food on the other hand was not good at all. The salad was a few pieces of lettuce, one grape tomato cut in half and two cucumbers. My husband's salad they added a $2 for a few pieces of processed cheese and store bought croutons . My husband ordered the carbonara and it was very very bland and underwhelming.I ordered the brie and shrimp pasta. My pasta was very underdone to the point of being crunchy, oily broken sauce, the brie was cold and tossed into the pasta in large chunks and the shrimp was canned shrimp that was so dried I couldn't even bite through it- It was like jerky. For the prices that they have, I was severely disappointed in quality of the food. Been wanting to check this place out for dinner for quite some time and I'm so disappointed.Kid-friendliness: No kids options, wouldn't bring my kids again. All they had was mozzarella sticks which were $15 for 5 small pieces.

Had a nice birthday lunch for my mother. The soup was a touch salty, but good, as they say.

This was my favorite restaurant in Skowhegan for over twenty years. Have told dozens of people about it. Well went there twice recently. Waited twenty minutes for a glass of wine even though there were no other diners. Gave it another chance. Had to go up to the bar and ask for drinks. Not just drinks were slow service. Prices have increased astronomically. Salads are nothing like they used to be despite the price. Even more disturbing was when we walked out there were two staff members, one sitting at the bar texting and the other chilling.Where are you Cheryl??

Food was absolutely amazing. Service was sub par. The young waitress' attitude was so careless and unprofessional. The entire time she was around our table taking orders she was leaning up against the wall. But food was so exceptional it still deserved 4 stars.

I was a little disappointed. We planned my husbands birthday here with the kids. (7total). The lady I made the reservations with was SUPER NICE. We'd have confetti and a candle in dessert.. super thoughtful.None of that happened. Our server, although pleasant, wanted to stand at one end of the table and us to all yell our orders at her, while she leaned against the wall for support...guess she must have been tired. Yeah NO. Like she would get them right and I don't need the people around us trying to enjoy dinner, having to put up w all 7 of us yelling at a supposedly quaint, cozy restaurant. BIG Disappointment there.Food had wonderful flavors. I questioned the Filet as it was 1/2" thick. Most filet mignon is thicker. It was tender, but not sure it was mignon or filet of sirloin. It was good tho. ALL the food was WONDERFUL. Heritage house was always my GO TO Place years ago for a NICE FINE MEal w bananas foster made table side for dessert (no longer done). I will still HIGHLY RECOMMEND the restaurant as the food was tremendous and the server might have been tired, or a bad day. Leaning on the walls (LAZY) and not being trained to walk around for orders...well...that was the big turn off. I felt like Irving Truck Stop with that. The service in a fine restaurant is as important as the quality ingredients and flavors. Not impressed w service. Very impressed w flavors. Recommend.

Made a reservation to the Heritage house, hoping to have the best dining experience in town. Have lived in skowhegan all my life and never came because I don't like to spend much on food. So this was a special treat for me and my party.Let's start with just beverages. Not many options unless you want wine or another alcoholic drink from their full bar. I was looking for any type of zero sugar soda while the only had diet coke. No big deal. We decide to start with a sampler appetizer. It comes out and we all laugh to each other at how much food is there. 2 halves of a stuffed fried jalapeno, 2 frozen mozzarella sticks, and the smallest fried crab cake I've ever seen. I only had a bite of the jalapeno which was underwhelming, and before I could try anything else, the sampler was killed in seconds. We were hungry.Only 1 other table was in at the time, and the food was slow to come out. Hmm, they must be preparing it well and plating it up well enough for instagram, is what I thought. Food comes out looking like any other food you can find in town, and the main courses were also sub par. Plates with overcooked steak full of blood and fat, so the meat does not get proper time to rest. Plus your starch is soaked in blood so don't get a steak with fries, they will be soggy. I had burnt rice in my pilaf, and my chicken was dry. Another member from our party was taking gristle out of their ridiculously small portion of chicken. And these dishes are all $27 and up, mine being the cheapest there. The poorly prepared steak was $36! For strip steak! The food wasn't horrible, but for those prices we expected more.We all couldn't believe how much we were paying for "fine" dining. The name for the resturant is appropriate, since the interior decor looks like it came straight out of my dead grandmother's house. This place should be a museum with the walls looking in need of repair and super old tacky wallpaper. A strange, small, cramped single bathroom set up with a "ladies" sign on it.After all this, we make the mistake of getting dessert and our only request was having the brownie heated before plated and we got a cold half portion of a brownie.Someone should open another fancy restaurant in town, because somehow this place is surviving serving poor food for an average of $32 a plate. The only reason it got 2 stars, was because our waitress was very nice and tended to us very well. She was great, everything else, meh.If you want a better sit down meal in town for half the price, just go to Ken's.Edit: adding this last part the morning after... I was horribly sick all throughout the night and it started 6 hours after eating here... pretty sure I got food poisoning or salmonella.

We look forward to coming here each year. In fact, it is part of our vacation planning! The quality and taste of the food makes you want dinner to go on forever! Tonight’s seafood dinners were unbelievably delicious! Our salads, beans and accompanying wines beer were equally delicious! Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly as well as efficient. The entire atmosphere of the dining rooms make this a great dining experience! We look forward to return next year.

1st time visiting, already planning a return. Very quiet when we arrived, sat at the bar. Great drinks and really enjoyed our bartender (Catherine). We shared an appetizer, will plan to arrive hungry next time to enjoy dinner.

We just recently stopped in for lunch. We got soup, salad, and an entre for $13! Devious fish chowder, green salad with honey mustard dressing, and scallops with fig and brie for me. Everything was fantastic as was the service. My partner had the sausage and veg soup, salad with blue cheese dressing, and gueyere scallops, also fabulous! I highly recommend the Heritage House for both lunch and evening meals, you will not be disappointed.

Take so long to get food you only get one average plate meal .. prices are $25 and up a person. Food is very plain. Husband said he went to check out and was told that the prices have changed. Between me my 7 yr old daughter and my husband our tab was $77. We all had only water ..my daughter didn't have a meal it was two meals and one appetizer. We shared amongst each other cus it was so expensive. The food portion is not filling you feel like you would have to eat another half of plate along with your meal. From the scale from 1 to 10 the meals is a 5. It's plain it's not even exciting.
