My wife and I enjoyed excellent and creative cocktails. I'm glad that I skipped my usual choice of beer. The charcuterie plate had some good offerings but there was a cheese that made me nauseous with a very foul flavor that lingered through dinner. We got scallops and steak. They were properly cooked but extremely salty and unenjoyable. The broccoli rabe was tough and stringy like woody asparagus. Service was excellent but the quality of the food will have me warning others not to go.

Went for my birthday with my husband, and it did not disappoint. Everything about this place is top notch, from the service to the atmosphere to the food. Cocktails are incredible. There is nothing that we ordered that we wouldn't highly recommend, abd this is the sort if place where I'd order something different even if I'm not sure about it because I know it would still probably be good. The scallops and my husband's steak were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were on point.

Im giving two stars to head chef that allowed a shoulder cut of beef to be used as a “Beef Wellington” Special. Traditionally and always, the center cut of the tenderloin or “chateaubriand” is used.It was presented nicely, but the composition was completely incorrect, and this information was failed to be passed to service then to diner. We should always question the special, because what this is saying to me is that you had extra unfavorable cuts of beef that you wrapped up in puff pastry and made to look pretty. We can also tell you had extra mushrooms because you mixed the remaining duxelles in with the side of greens.Lastly and almost most importantly was the lack of demi-glacé or Bordelaise sauce. Which, building these flavor profiles is an art of its own.To sum it up, I was very disappointed in the Beef Wellington. However, the curry sauced mussels were fantastic and very well executed. The staff was great and professional, offering another dish and taking off a round of our drinks. The atmosphere was beautiful, clean, modern, and decadent. We did get there early and were seated in the large dining hall right next to a table of six, which felt too invasive.I really did like the restaurant, and it’s hard to find a fine dining experience locally. We will definitely be back to try more options on the menu, but definitely not for that Beef Shoulder Wellington!! 86 it!!

Stage House Inn & Dufour strikes a charming balance between tradition and modernity, and proved to be a gem in the local hospitality scene. Warm lighting and cozy décor invite patrons into a welcoming embrace. The bar’s ambiance, accentuated by an intricately patterned ceiling and elegant glassware, sets a sophisticated tone. Service is attentive, reflecting a commitment to customer satisfaction. Cocktails were crafted with a blend of classic and innovative techniques, offering a memorable experience. While the prices reflect the quality, the value is apparent. Highly recommended for those seeking a refined, yet comfortable evening out.

Excellent dinner and superior service. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very good, was able to sample a couple of red wines on the specialty menu which helped me make my decision. My wife had a pear bourbon cocktail that was incredible. I had the tuna steak special and it was fantastic, my wife had the mussels for her meal and they were some of the best we have ever had - they were cooked with sausage and a peanut sauce/ broth. The beet salad was ok and my wife's roasted veggies were awesome. Reservations are a must for the weekend!

I cannot say enough great things about Dufour. I don't make it to South Berwick that often, but am so glad someone recommended this restaurant when I was living in Dover. It is lightly upscale, with a great atmosphere for a night out. The food has been amazing each time I go, and all ingredients seem to be farm-to-table fresh. Highly recommend.

We have been here a number of times and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere; however. both seemed to have declined. I ordered the ribeye, $39.00. It was smothered in thick congealed sauce. The hassleback potatoes were boiled and cut, not hassleback. So disappointing. Service was slow. Lights were so bright we could have performed surgery. This place has gone downhill. Won't be returning.
