A delightful, bespoke dining experience! I just photographed a wedding there a few days ago and it was a beautiful venue and Kim was so nice and welcoming.

Wonderful experience, delicious food.
My (now) husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at The Patio at 1578. I couldn't have asked for a better rehearsal dinner. Everything was absolutely perfect. Mark and Kim worked with us to create a wonderful family-style Italian feast for our around 30 guests. We arrived around 5:30 and started off with delicious cocktails. We had 3 hors d'oeuvres (bruschetta, lamb chops, and arancini) which were all delectable and served on trays. The main course was a summer salad, bread, and three family-style dishes: tagliatelle bolognese, risotto milanese with shrimp, and fettuccini carbonara. For dessert we had a fruit preserve filled ice cream coated in chocolate. Mark and Kim were so accommodating to those with special dietary restrictions. It was the perfect menu for us, the perfect atmosphere, and the perfect evening. I can't wait to go back for more of their delicious food and excellent service! Thanks so much Mark & Kim!Photos are Izzy Bouchard Photography
Beautiful view and great food
Wonderful experience, delicious food.
Heard so much about this "jewel" that we couldn't wait to go. Bottom line: It doesn't deserve the hype it received on this site. Big hint: If you are going to dine outside, on the patio, go in June or July when the days are long and the daylight gets you through dinner. At least if you want to see what you are eating! We went in early September and by the time my entree arrived, the table was clothed in total darkness! A dying candle did not shed any light on the table and by the time dessert arrived, it was falling off the plate in my effort to find it. The food: On our night there, the food was just OK. One in our party said her beef carpaccio was dry. The main course: White (halibut-somewhat overcooked) served on (white) mashed potatoes? Actually I couldn't see my plate due to the 100% darkness but I imagined what white on white would look like. Is that what they taught the chef/owner at the CIA? The cost: $75.00 per person plus tip and tax. A hefty tab which would be OK if the food and comfort were deserving. Drinks were good and service was OK. The view from the patio was lovely but brief due to the loss of daylight (not the owners' fault). Perhaps they should consider hosting the party indoors as daylight gets shorter. Bottom, bottom line: We won't return.
We looked at this as an opportunity to experience something unique on our visit to the Bristol area and it most certainly was! They only host 8 tables per evening when they serve and it is a pre fixed menu focused with a lot of local ingredients. So you get whatever is being served but it was truly delicious. The views were just picturesque. It was a bit of a risk as we were with our 13 year old and 14 year old but it worked out great. My only complaint was my kids ordered lemonade and it was served in a very small glass with ice. They were asked if they wanted refills and we were charged for each time it was refilled. We were also charged for simple black coffee after dinner. I would expect non-alcoholic drinks to be included for the price we paid...especially refills on the tiny lemonades. But overall would definitely recommend.

Excellent food, friendly service, and lovely outdoor seating on the water. A must is you are in the area?
This is a set price meal comprised from whatever strikes chef Mark's fancy. Kim is the consummate front end hostess and bartender. The decor is wonderfully comfortable, yet upscale. Seven of us reserved the table in front of the living room fireplace to celebrate a birthday dining extravaganza. It was by far one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed! $70.00 per person (cash only, NO credit cards!). The salad: Winter greens tossed in a bacon vinaigrette with crisp proscuitto chips, hard boiled egg, fried Damariscotta River oysters and remoulade sauce. The entree: Slow cooked Chateaubriand of beef tenderloin, fondant potatoes, julienned carrots, roasted brussel sprouts and asparagus spears, herbed cognac demi-glace. Dessert: Fried raspberry-filled donut with sugar glaze and small creme de menthe and ice cream drink with chocolate shavings. Need I saw more? But I will! I have not had the pleasure of dining on the actual Patio which is only conducive in the summer months (It overlooks St John's Bay), but I certainly hope to do so! This place deserves ALL the superlative adjectives! A wonderful experience!
