We felt so lucky to find this place and will truly miss it until we’re back in the area. We went for lunch and returned immediately the next day for dinner. Everything was outstanding, from the house made pickles on the delicious spicy chicken sandwich, to the dressing, pork belly, and crispy chicken on the wedge salad. The fish sandwich with perfectly seasoned slaw, and the biscuits with maple butter were also incredible. The fried chicken was some of the best we’ve ever had. On top of the special food, the owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming. We spent a lot of time sitting at the bar chatting with one of the owners and overall enjoyed our visit so much. We will be talking about this place long after our trip.

Gourmet pub food with local beers. I had the breakfast burger and some sautéed Brussels sprouts. Delicious! The Brussels sprouts were cooked in garlic and lemon. I don’t really like Brussel sprouts and I could not stop eating them!! I took half home and had a meal the next day. The restaurant has an old pub feel and an eclectic vibe. The view is one of the best on the island. Definitely worth the trip. ??

I had the fried fish sandwich. It was delicious and huge! Crispy breading and flaky white fish. The table split tinned fish as an appetizer. We shared four different tins and they were all delicious. Lunch was great and it would be a great spot for a beer and snacks. I loved the atmosphere, it had a great view of the harbor.

The food and atmosphere can't be beat! We were there at beginning of August. Very memorable. We actually went back a couple nights later before leaving for home.

Food was overall excellent, I had the crab cake special and it was one of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had. My partner had the fried chicken sandwich and it was another winner. Smashed potatoes and biscuits were excellent, roasted cauliflower was a little underdone and over dressed with a not so flavorful sauce. Price was fair, and we were grateful they were open off season! My only comment about atmosphere would be to suggest to turn the lights down… it’s super bright and lowering the lights is an easy way to create coziness and warmth.

In the midst of a hunger-induced rush after our Lobster Charter, we stumbled upon Peter Trout's Tavern and Inn in Southwest Harbor, Maine, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer. The unanimous sentiment among the guys was that this spot housed the best food we had all week in Maine. My personal standout was the Market Fish Sandwich of the day, an absolute delight that left me thoroughly impressed. The variety of oysters only added to the culinary experience, showcasing the freshness and quality of the seafood. As a group, we went all out, ordering a plethora of appetizers that practically covered the entire menu, and to top it off, a massive $100 steak that lived up to its hefty price tag. Peter Trout's Tavern and Inn left an indelible mark on our taste buds, earning a solid 10/10 rating. The combination of exceptional food, a diverse menu, and a vibrant atmosphere made it a standout dining experience in Southwest Harbor. Without a doubt, I'd be back again, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of a remarkable culinary adventure in Maine

We came here after a long day at Acadia and MAN this place hit the SPOT.We waited a bit for a table and got some good beers and chatted with some of the locals who were so kind. Enjoyed looking at the eclectic assortment of trinkets on the walls. Then the food. The fish and chips were great and we loved the crab cakes especially. We didn’t get to try the fried chicken but we want to come back for it since the owner Ryan, who was also super kind and cool, is from Georgia so it’s gotta be good. Also they have lobster only sometimes in the summer, another reason to come back.Overall great local best spot in small town kinda vibes. Loved.

Great little find after our hike at ships harbour. Really friendly staff and service, helpful with our baby and getting some food out fast. Best meal we had on our Maine vacation. Each dish was really well done and delicious. Get as many sides as you can!
