Our favorite bistro in Southeast Harbor. The menu items are unique and delish, desserts and pastries are terrific, drinks well concocted, and the staff is attentive and courteous. Don't pass up this MDI gem!
Meh. Steak was fine, drinks were OK, everything else nothing special. I genuinely do not know how you can make mashed potatoes unappetizing, and this is coming from a guy who sure likes his potatoes, but this place succeeded. The smoked seafood plate was disappointing as well, sure it was indeed smoked, but it just didn't taste good at all. Pretty sure all of it tasted better before it got smoked...
If rating the food alone I would give it 6 stars. 2nd night in a row my wife and I dined here. She had scallop crepes our 1st evening and chicken marsala 2nd evening. Salads were also excellent. I had the meatloaf as I was told it was excellent and it did not disappoint. Best meatloaf I've ever had and I'm from mennonite/amish country. Drinks were also very good. Only complaint is service tended to be slow. Too many tables to serve for the number of wait staff. The owner should limit the number of tables if they cannot find more wait staff. Review would be 5 but for this. Desserts were also excellent!
Friendly service. Good food. Give them a try. Working hard to do a good job. Thank you
TLDR: extremely long wait for food (even just appetizers); don’t get flank steak; good bread. We came in at 3:48pm. Was told that food will be served after 4pm, no problem, we thought to just have a drink, no big deal. Two lovely ladies came in and sat down next to us around 3:52.At 4:10, Our orders mysteriously disappeared from the ordering terminal, had to re-enter our order, okay fine also no problem, we will wait.Long story short, the two ladies finished their appetizers and main course and is waiting for dessert while we are still waiting for one appetizer to arrive. We were so hungry we kept asking for bread. Our appetizer came at 5:12. Main course came soon after. The flank steak was, of course, dry and flavorless. Medium rare steak turned out to be almost as dry as beef jerky, except jerky is more flavorful.Friend appreciated her Parmesan chicken but the fettuccine was nothing special.Possibly the worst experience in the surrounding towns.Added one additional star because the bread and my friend’s drink was great. ??♀️
We stayed in Southwest Harbor for a week. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner all over the Southwest and Bar Harbor area. We ate at Sips our last day. The breakfast was so good, we decided to come back for dinner. The salmon (with blueberry sauce) was the BEST MEAL I’ve had all week. We also tried the scallops, Mediterranean plate, and the chocolate torte…all good! My favorite was the coconut cake and the “Brittany” latte made with chia and caramel. I don’t know why the reviews aren’t better. I’d give you 10 stars if I could!!!
Small but, intimate pub like setting that feels like home?. Best grilled swordfish I've ever had on either the West Coast or, the East Coast! Very friendly service. Excellent desserts?
Almosr two years and I finally felt safe enough to get back to Sips..I went in for happy hour. I arrived at 5 and ordered two drinks prior to six...the bartender was busy and didn't cash me out until after six and charged me at regular price not happy hour. I've been a regular customer there since it opened but will not be going back
Food and service both excellent. We sat at the bar because we didn’t have a reservation. Bar maid/manager was friendly. I had the swordfish special which was really good. My husband ordered the meatloaf which is the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
We liked this place very much for breakfast on a visit several years ago. This year, we looked forward to more pleasant times for breakfast however the establishment was closed in the morning. I would still recommend the place although this year we only managed one meal at Sips

Visiting from Mississippi and New Mexico and was having a hankering for some good coffee after a charter boat tour. Found this recommendation on Trip Advisor and found it easily. Parking nearby along with many other good shops to stroll by while drinking our coffee. Great selection and daily specials. Hot and cold drinks varieties. Desserts are also available. Indoor and outdoor seating.
We found the food to be fresh and accommodating to dietary needs. Recommend. Located on a side street in SW, outdoor tables available as well and indoor.
Sips is one of the few restaurants on West Desert Island. It's operated as a restaurant and a bar and they don't have enough staff for both the restaurant and the bar. As a result, the service was very slow. When I was served, the food was good. I was there for a light lunch and got a perfectly-cooked grilled cheese sandwich, which was what I wanted before going back to more Acadia touring.
Staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, and food was delicious. Definitely recommend
We made reservations for outside seating. The service was very good. After ten days of lobster and fish, we opted for something different. We each ordered the meatloaf dinner - it was delicious! The meatloaf is made with lamb, beef and pork, topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms. We ate here a few years ago on our stay in Southwest Harbor and had enjoyed Sips - they have remained consistently good. We'll be back on our next trip.
