Been here during our Trip north for leaf peeping and experienced perfect communication and very friendly staff in a nice environment. But overpriced. Definitely recommended!

What a great lobster pound- prices were definitely better than the prices for lobster closer to Bar Harbor.
I got this meaty guy (I believe is was a pound and a half) for $17, and my husband got the lobster roll.
The quality was excellent and tasted delicious.

i went for the lobster roll at Thurstons as recommended by a local for my first lobster roll experience. For good measure i also ordered a crab roll. I thought the crab roll was superior ...finely shredded white meat. compared to my crabroll from the fishery in Conwy, which had brown meat mixed in, i preferred the Maine one. The uk has brown crab but its much more affordable ( 10 times cheaper for my uk crab roll). My local lobster also comes with pkenty of free barnacles. Thurstons definately wins on quality
Can't say enough good things about Thurstons. Best lobster spot on MDI. Food, people, environment and view excellent. We have been coming here for years and are never disappointed.

I think the food was a bit overpriced, but maybe the atmosphere of it all made up for some aspects of it. It was nice to be right by the waters, seeing the boats, and eating the fresh food. The service was also great, the girls that took our order were helpful and friendly. We got lobster rolls and the mussels. The lobster rolls itself were good, maybe a 7.5/10 and the mussels were subpar at a 6.5/10 as it was just cooked and came with a side of melted butter. Coming here was good for the experience, but the food could be a bit more flavorful.

This was our last night in the area. Thurston's was on my list of local places to eat, we were staying just around the harbor. So glad we stopped! We were unsure what to do after entering, but the woman behind the counter was very helpful. We ordered and paid from the counter, received our table number, and sat anywhere we wanted. The hour was early, so we opted for a seat in the bar which was not too busy at that time. Service at the bar was good with a friendly bartender. It was a little breezy and chilly to sit outside, but we had a nice view of the harbor from our seat. Dinner was brought to our table in short order. The lobster stew I order was a great surprise - so very sweet and delicious as was my lobster roll. I had it prepared in the traditional way (as I was told) with mayo. It was not hot. My husband had the clams and a burger. All was good. After dinner, we walked to our vehicle, but since it was early returned to the bar for another beer on the harbor. Glad we went, and would recommend this eatery to anyone!
I’d like to give them a 10 for Perfect everything.
If you’re in the area, don’t miss this wonderful experience.

We had a great time. We got there just before they opened at noon and waited in a small line until they let people in. We are glad we did because we were able to get a great spot on the deck overlooking the bay. Lobster was great, drinks were as well but were pretty pricey in my opinion.

The best lobster pound in the Southwest Harbor area! We were in the area for five days and Thurston’s was the best lobster pound we found. The line was long and we almost didn’t stay…SO glad we did. We had the lobster roll and the fresh local crab roll (special). Everything was so good and the service was great! You’re literally right on the water so the atmosphere is as rustic and authentic as it gets. We are at Beals our first night in the area and we felt like Thurstons was way better. Get the jumbo lobster roll and ask for butter on the side—trust me! Don’t miss this spot!

The jumbo lobster dinner was excellent. We got some of the lobster nacho dip which was delicious. This place is lobster on a whole different level. Lobster melt is awesome and the Lobster BLT is amazing!

Lobster is priced much better at this location. Food was good, place was hopping, it's on the water so if it wasn't dark it would have had a good view. But this is not a sit down full service place if that is what you want. You order and pay at register, so casual.

I enjoyed my first Maine lobster roll here by recommendation.
I feel like it may be a little bit on the pricey side but the food is great!
Would come back!
