The blueberry pie was great, the strawberry-rhubard, not so much.

I first discovered Moody's decades ago on vacation. It was very good, both in food and pricing. After moving a few years ago, Moody's was something we hoped to experience more. Sadly, the quality has gone way down and the prices way up. It's been ok, but not great. This last time, my wife had the pastrami ruben, found it salty. I had the steak and pepper sub, the bread was dry and crumbly. We don't plan on coming back.

It was decent! It was a fun experience to try. The coconut cream pie and breakfast sandwich were awesome! The blueberry muffin was a bit dry.

Excellent! Not only really good food, it's dining in a Historic Diner. Worth a detour. Leave room for pie!

We visited Moody’s Diner on a Saturday in late August around 11:45 a.m. Parking was easy, and the wait for a table was about 20 minutes, which seemed reasonable for a busy weekend. Once seated, it took another 10 minutes before our server introduced herself. The service was polite but a bit slow, and unfortunately, the food and what followed were much worse.
I ordered a simple breakfast: two slices of French toast, two eggs cooked over hard, two sausage links, and coffee. The French toast was dry and thin, not the thick, custardy style you’d expect from a diner with decades of tradition. The eggs were greasy and undercooked, far from “over hard.” The sausage links were small and forgettable. My companion had a similar meal. This was our only meal of the day, as we had a full schedule planned on the water.
About an hour after eating, we both became ill. I had severe stomach pain that lasted into the next day, and neither of us could eat again. Our afternoon and evening plans, which had been booked weeks in advance, had to be canceled. Whether it was from undercooked eggs or poor food handling, the experience was disappointing and disruptive. The bill came to $28.03 for two breakfasts and coffee, which felt high for the quality we received.
At the entrance, Moody’s displays a framed certificate from the Waldoboro American Legion and a poster from the Mid-Coast Veterans Council calling the diner “Veteran Friendly.” As a veteran myself, I noticed this right away. The certificate, dated February 2021, thanks Moody’s for “service and support to veterans,” and the poster features patriotic imagery and a general endorsement.
However, there was no indication of any actual veteran discount on food or merchandise. I inquired about a veteran discount, both for food and merchandise, but none was offered. While symbolic recognition is appreciated, being “Veteran Friendly” should mean more than hanging a certificate on the wall. It should include tangible support, especially from a long-standing community business that proudly displays that title.
Moody’s Diner has history and name recognition, but this visit fell short on food quality, safety, and authentic community support. The service was fine, but the meal made us sick, and the value just wasn’t there. For travelers and fellow veterans, I’d suggest trying another spot.

Very rude waitress with grey hair, low pony tail, and heavy set. It was our first time and we are never coming back because of her.

I guess the only thing people would be bothered by is waiting time however i didnt mind since there are so many things to look at. This place is a character. Food was good, i went with my family and they liked it too. Been here three times. Everytime i drive up to maine this is a must go to place. Service was great too, fast and attentive.
