Charming, nostalgic country store. Focus is on delicious homemade food and gifts-- much less "mass-produced" stuff than some of the other shops you see along the road.

This is a great little market selling locally sourced food and goods and gifts. The prepared foods are phenomenal and made fresh daily with wholesome ingredients. Everything from the baked goods to the homemade soups are outstanding. Highly recommend for snacks, gifts or grabbing a lovely dinner to heat up at home.

My father-in-law fell in Hungry Hollow a few years ago. He knocked over some newspapers that had just been stacked. The owner made him pay for the newspapers he knocked over as a result of his fall on the uneven floor boards. She was completely oblivious to the fact that someone had fallen in her establishment. This year, my mother-in-law places an order with Hungry Hollow. The owner couldn't remember or locate her order and was quite rude. I'll be sure to insist that my mother-in-law place an order with a more friendly establishment.

Hungry Hollow has the best baked goods in southern Maine-- well, that I've had in any state over many years of eating anyway! Shirley, the owner, is a phenomenal woman and local treasure. Her service is personalized and warm, and the Hungry Hollow ambiance is that of a classic country store. Her Maine local fruit pies are worth a day trip!! My dad used to buy 12 chicken pot pies at a time for summer guests!

I had almost driven by when on an impulse I yanked the steering wheel and made a quick U-turn into their driveway. I am so happy I did! As soon as my foot crossed the threshold I could smell the fresh donuts. Because I can't eat cinnamon right now I got one of the molasses donuts for myself. For my dad and husband sugar coated apple cider donuts. Mine was excellent and the reports of the apple cider donuts were the same. As for the three quarts of strawberries that I bought, my dad said he hasn't had strawberries like that in years :-)They also have both gluten-free and dairy-free food that you can take away and cook at home along with a large selection of bread made with organic spelt

Every time we go to Bethel we stop at Hungry Hollow to stock up. The chicken curry soup is fantastic and there are a lot of gluten free options. We have loved every thing we have gotten there. Make sure you get some cookies too!!
