My family and I were having an awful day and found ourselves at Roots for some nourishment while awaiting medical results. Never have we ever felt so comforted and held by complete strangers. This place not only offers absolutely delicious food and drinks, but a community of genuinely kind and loving people. We are in complete awe. Portland is so lucky to have a spot like this. A special thank you to Sara. So grateful to have crossed paths with you. p.s. Finn LOVES the peanut butter cookies!

The drinks that I have gotten from roots have all been something I feel I could make better at home for a lot cheaper and same goes for their food. I personally only go when a friend invites me there to hang out.

This was our 2nd time in and we really enjoy everything from the design and layout of the space, menu, price point, quality, and staff. Excellent coffees this time and some sweet treats. There is a sense of tranquility and calm here that we both enjoy each time.

Good place to stop for lunch. Salads were delicious, sandwiches were good but I wasn’t wowed by them. Very nice atmosphere to eat both inside and outside. Does have a religious bookstore/gift shop area.
Dedicated Gluten Free place, lots of healthy options too. We got salads and tomato soup. Tomato soup was great, salad with chicken was okay. Cozy environment, would visit back if we are ever in the area again, for a quick healthy choice of food.

My wife and I went here 2 days in a row. Both of the days they messed up our order. On the first day, she asked for a sausage, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel, and they gave her bacon, which was still good, hut now what she ordered. On the second day, she asked for bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel, and they have her an everything bagel.

Staff was amazing. Having to eat gluten free and finding good food is challenging, but this place made that so much easier. A new favorite!!!

The ambience of this place is pretty cool in the fact that it has a bookstore attached and it has some pretty good baked goods, but the service was rude It felt like I was annoying them and the food I feel like I just paid for a grilled McChicken in crêpe form for $12. The cashier asked me if I wanted my soup heated up in a microwave. If I’m hearing the word microwave for a $6 cup of soup, it’s a turnoff I can heat up can of soup in the microwave at home.

First time here. Have been driving by many times and never had the chance to stop. My daughter and I had a beautiful time. The food and the service were amazing. Absolutely love the atmosphere. It was busy and rightfully so. I can see why. If you have a chance definitely check it out.

I got an iced chai latte, but it seems to just sweetened milk with some cinnamon, no tea. We also got a vegetable frittata, but I think they make this without any salt, which was surprising. I wouldn't get it again.

The baked goods were very tasty. We had high hopes due to things being gluten free as I have celiac. There was a very passive aggressive female employee that really made our experience not so pleasant. It’s unfortunate because the place was very sweet, but left us feeling unwelcome. Disappointed because the food was good, but the vibe was so off.

The don’t let you get a drink put in a reusable cup if you bring one- only their own plastic cups. For a place that prides itself on being organic I hate that they waste all of that plastic
