My family and I were having an awful day and found ourselves at Roots for some nourishment while awaiting medical results. Never have we ever felt so comforted and held by complete strangers. This place not only offers absolutely delicious food and drinks, but a community of genuinely kind and loving people. We are in complete awe. Portland is so lucky to have a spot like this. This has become our favorite place in this area. They have great sandwiches, quiche and coffee. They also have delicious baked goods (cookies, cupcakes and muffins). The sandwich and salad selection is fantastic. Their quiche is really, really good. I suggest trying a sandwich with a crepe as the "bread". DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE MEXICAN MOCHA DRINK. The drinks that I have gotten from roots have all been something I feel I could make better at home for a lot cheaper and same goes for their food. I personally only go when a friend invites me there to hang out.
