Hands down Amato's sour pickles are in a league of their own. Obviously the food is good, Italians are always good and we tried their cheese/ham stuffers also delicious. Great to-go lunch place ?

We went to order online weren't able then when I get there the staff refused to cook my order stated it takes 30 to 45 minutes to cook, then no one washed their hands along with no hair nets.

My pizza order has been messed up twice. Each time they corrected the mistake. I don’t have a problem with the mistakes because it gets crazy there with so much going on. Both times I got an apology they corrected their mistake and gave me the errant item for the inconvenience. They didn’t have to do that. They could have taken the mistake and put it under the heat lamp and sold it.

I had 5 stars, but today my double ham and cheese, salt, pepper, and oil, no veggies sandwich tasted like veggies. I order without veggies because I don't like them. They either prepare their food on the same surfaces, didn't change gloves after handling veggies or they put veggies on and took them off which would be really sad if true. A fresh sandwich should be started in this case. I'm glad it was just me not liking the taste vs. being allergic to veggies. I ate the sandwich but had to mix in chips to help cover the taste of the sandwich.

My 5 star was from 3 years ago and I have had good sandwiches since then. I'll get another but if that one tastes like veggies I won't be back. We frequently go to Windham and get food. I don't want to taste veggies on a non-veggie sandwich.

Food is usually great. The customer service and attitude is terrible. If you can't have a good attitude with customers, please find a new Job. *EDIT* No I won't be giving you guys another chance, the service has been terrible multiple times, not just once. I don't think you actually care to fix anything, this has been an issue for years at this location.

Girlfriend and I got take out with her family. I’m from Florida and the Italian hit the spot. Bread is super soft, great flavor, pickles are one of a kind. Definitely worth the visit

Hoped after a year they would have learned the types of cheeses and what no cheese is. Sauce has change and is awful and it’s a good thing I don’t have a cheese allergy cause I had cheese on my sub after saying no cheese. Never coming back here again.

Had a large original Italian sub. Very little meat and cheese on the sub. Filled with veggies that were fresh and tasty. I guess for the price point you're getting what I paid for. My wife and daughter had pasta and cheese pazzo which were good.

My family has gone to Amatos since the 1920s. The food has always been fantastic, especially the veggie Italian sandwiches and their pizza. Amatos is my favorite eating place and it's my first stop when I travel to Maine for vacation.

While the chain has suffered in the past COVID 19 world and the poor work ethic of the younger generations. 20 years ago you could walk in and order 10 sandiwches and have them in hand 10 minutes later. Now a days ordering 1 sandwich will take almost 20 minutes. It's not specific to one location I visited 3 locations throughout the state and it was sadly the same story. However, the food has not suffered. It's still the same quality. The same flavors I grew up on. It's not the restaurants fault. Good help is hard to find.

Love the classic Italian! We don’t have them out here in Utah so every time we go to Maine we make sure and go to Amato’s at least a couple times.
