As an actual chef myself, who has been cooking for over a decade and running kitchens , I will put an honest review here for all who are curious about Aroy Thai... I live very close to this location and haven't eaten Thai cuisine in a very long time so I wanted to give it a try. I got chicken egg rolls, pad Thai, tom kha soup and Thai tea. I spent a total of 35 with tip so prices are not bad at all.. Walking in, it is very depressing with no decor and just a few tables and a cement floor. I ordered take out and all my food my nice and hot! The egg rolls were somehow burnt yet soggy and very chewy. Not very good. Thai chili sauce was just ok and probably cheap store bought. Pad Thai was so acidic with lemon and the chicken I got with it had no color and was probably boiled. Pretty bland and not very spicy for medium heat. Tom Kha soup with beef was also bland and again served with boiled proteins as well as very acidic with lime . That's really all I tasted. Very little coconut milk , galangal or spices come through at all. Just lime water with veggies and milk and no love or flavor. I love tom kha soup and make it in the winter with prawn stock. This was just depressing. The Thai tea was actually really good and the milk and black tea came together very well! I think it's obvious there is no actual chef or management to inspect dishes or even taste them before they are served. I threw out all my food and wasted 35$ just to drink some tea. I can only critique items I got so hopefully other items are edible because mine was not.

This place has great Thai food for the price. Good portions. It's spicy, so go mild or no spice. Some have given low reviews because it was too spicy. You chose that spice level. That's not the restaurant fault. There is even a warning on the menu.

Anyone who complains about the spice didn’t read the menu. Shocker..hot is hot. Like really hot. And delicious. Get a mild or no spice and work your way up.

This has been our new favorite thai place ever since they moved to lake michigan dr!
Their spice levels mean BUSINESS (would not recommend going above mild+ for most people, coming from someone who has done (and completed) a hot ones challenge for funsies and struggles with medium and up here), but the flavor never lacking.
Favorite tom yum in the city, hands down. Also on the must try list: their green curry and curry pad thai.
That allll being said, the food can be a bit inconsistent from time to time. Still tasty, but one time may be more saucy, a little more or less spicy, ratio of noodles/veg/protein etc. That won't keep us from coming here time and time again, though!
We've never eaten in the restaurant so can't really speak to the service, but definitely recommend for anyone who loves thai!

My husband and I eat very spicy food. We order “hot” at all other Thai restaurants and are completely fine with it. We ordered “hot” here and the food was so spicy I literally started hallucinating. It was inedible. My husband called the restaurant just to let them know this, and that from someone who truly eats spicy food it was just too much. He was not asking for a refund. And he was given a poor attitude back on the phone telling him to read their disclaimer on the menu.

Our favorite take out by far! (A weekly occurrence) Their crab rangoons and peanut curry noodle with chicken or fried tofu. The vegetables are fresh, the spice level is consistent and delicious, and the portions are generous for the price.
One of the best broccoli and beef entres I have had ! There egg rolls are the best!
