How was this place not packed on a Saturday afternoon? We’re from Texas and at first my husband didn’t want to eat here because he didn’t want to be “disappointed” when their BBQ didn’t stack up to what we’re used to. We decided to try it anyway and I’m SO glad we did! We started with the Beer Cheese Tots. They were phenomenal! We’ve had our fair share of “soggy” tots. Pulled pork was ok. Pulled chicken was dry and tasted like pure smoke. Red potatoes were shriveled and tasted like day old and reheated.
Small cod portion. Looked like one piece cut in half. Got a side of old coleslaw. Not crunchy or fresh. Not what I remembered having in the past. Used to love it. My club soda tasted like the machine needs cleaning very moldy tasting. Upset stomach rest of the day tasting the coleslaw. Hadn’t been in in awhile so disappointed in my food.

Roots is a highly recommended restaurant that serves great food with generous portions at extremely fair prices. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is excellent, with friendly and knowledgeable servers eager to guide guests through the menu. It is a hidden gem, perfect for those looking for a delicious meal in a cozy setting. The restaurant offers great gluten-free options, making it a good choice for those with dietary restrictions. The menu features fan-favorite dishes like the "insane" nachos, a three-meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken, and delicious sides like broccoli and redskins. Recent reviews highlight the amazing Beer Cheese Tots, praised for being crunchy and topped with beer cheese and green onions. The Brisket French Dip and the Two Meat BBQ Tray, especially the thick, fork-tender brisket and standout mac&cheese, received high marks. The butternut squash soup, mixed with high-quality maple syrup, is a unique and delicious start. The potato salad also received favorable mentions, even if it wasn't mustard-based. Portions are huge, often leading to leftovers that can last for multiple meals. With its comfortable booths, great drinks, and super nice staff, Roots is a must-visit spot that will leave guests wanting to return again and again.
