Every time I get the opportunity to try baklava around the world like other certain foods, I enjoy the most (lobster bisque, another) and search for who makes the best of the best. Hands down, The Baklava Shop wins with no other coming even close. You always can tell a great and once-in-a-lifetime culinary creation when from first taste to last it is a tastebud earthquake you will never forget. Most baklavas are overly sugary, burnt, and ho-hum filo dough and with a bland filling. The Baklava Shop's baklava is the Holy Grail of Baklava Food Bliss. They achieved a magical blend of sugar, salt, and fat that allows your taste buds and brain to experience "culinary heaven" here on earth. Baklava shipped to my home?? YES PLEASE.We found this amazing shop at the Lewiston street fair on the last day of our trip, but learned that they will ship their sweet, sticky, flaky, absolutely delicious baklava right to your house. I ordered one of every flavor: pistachio (my personal fave!), walnut, pecan, almond and cashew. They are all amazing and shipped quickly. Makes a perfect gift (if you can resist eating the entire box yourself).If you're in the Lewiston area, you can call in an order and pick it up the next day, which we did on our most recent trip. The ordering process went smoothly and the baklava was just as delicious as our first order.Oh! And they also sell some of their treats in individual servings at Tally's (Bring cash; there is a serve-yourself display next to the bar and a cash box. On our visit most treats ran about $3 each which is honestly a steal for the flavor and quality). We loved the maple walnut bars, sweet & salty cookies and peanut butter bars.DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. A hidden gem :D
