I love Indian cuisine and try restaurants wherever I go. Overall, Rangoli was very good. The menu had a wide selection of food with many vegetarian options.Just after sitting down, my server brought out 2 pieces of wafer-like cracker, each about 10” in diameter with mango and mint-cilantro chutneys. It was very good, and salty, too. I’m no fan of salt/salty foods but it didn’t bother me. I was a little disappointed when they took away the chutneys before my food was served. I like to dip the naan in them.I ordered the coconut chicken and asked for medium spiciness. Typically, Indian food can be VERY spicy, so medium should have had a little kick to it. However, it was not spicy at all. That did not affect my overall rating, it was wonderful. The serving size was just right for a single person with a large appetite. The chicken pieces were bathed in a sauce of coconut milk, chilis and curry leaves providing a great flavor. The naan was surprising. This was the first time I’ve had it with a very light brushing of butter on it. At all the other restaurants I’ve tried it was served dry. It was really good. The chai tea was bland. It was good, just needed some more chai in it.The service was very good. Both water and tea refills came without asking and before needed. My order was taken promptly and the food arrived quickly.Overall, I recommend this restaurant and will return when I’m back in the greater Pontiac area.
