Its changed a lot since covid, before it used to be a restaurant, but now it's where are you order at a kiosk and then picking up the food at a counter when your number is called. In many ways I like this better because it's relaxed, the prices are really good, it is kid friendly, unfortunately they don't have anything really healthy, it's mostly burgers and fries although they have chicken strips and Chili, they also have a grilled cheese sandwich for those who don't eat meat. But the best thing is they have really good shakes and the shakes are half off during the week in between 2 and 4:00 p.m. if you are looking for a nice place to just sit and relax this is a good place to go. You can see my earlier review showing what it used to look like, I just went today to the same location and got the same thing, for an extra chicken strip it used to be a $1.80 but now there are a lot smaller hand thinner in charge $2.20 for just one strap, I had four strips and the biggest one was about 4 inches tall and 2 inches wide, and the other three are only about 3 inches and 2 inches and only about an inch and a half wide, and two of them were overcooked and had basically no chicken in it they were all breading, it was already pricey to begin with put worth it, now it's very questionable as to whether I'm going to return if this is what is expected on my return give it one more try to make sure that this isn't what is the usual from now on. Play should have taken more pictures to show the extent but I did get the one picture of it, as you can see in the picture this is supposed to be the same basket and you can see the difference with the fry amount unfortunately the picture doesn't really show the extent of how much breading is in it or how short it is, but at least it does show some comparison to before.

I ordered the food on the steak and shake website it was so delicious! I highly recommend any steak but make it a double and get the milkshake for sure! The steak was melt in your mouth just so juicy and tender! The milkshake was great!

I had a $40 online order. They didn't even get the order correct; forgetting all of the sauces and giving us 2 burgers that were completely different from the ones we ordered. The food was good, albeit being incorrect.
On top of that, I asked for a couple of water cups when we pulled up. They charged me $1.59 for 2 cups tap water. No other fast food place does that, especially after you've paid $40 for an order that was messed up anyway. Sleazy business practice.
2 star deduction for being greedy about tap water.
The secret is the beef tallow. Their steakburgers are absolutely on par with the # Guys place that is way over priced. The fires and onion rings are simply amazing tasting and a treat everyone should have. Removed 2 stars for having to order from a kiosk as the only option to order..

Used to be such a fun place and a classic place to visit. I stopped going when they terminated table service few years ago. Friend and I was recently in the area and got talking about how good it was to have quick meals there - and reasonable. We decided to give them a chance.
Cashless! Must use a kiosk. If you have trouble with ordering, out of luck. Staff cannot (or will not assist). Tables completly bare. You have to get your own drinks (except shakes), your own condiments, your own napkins, your own salt & pepper. You must do your own ordering. However, when making payment, a tip is still kindly requested.
Hamburgers are still okay. Maybe a 6 out of a 10. Hot dogs slightly above average. However, chili dogs… the chili they use is regular chili, w/beans. Big no-no for Michigan chili dogs. Chocolate shake: okay, have had better.
Well, will always have memories of Steak 'n Shake of the past.
Recommended dishes: Shoestring Fries, Onion Rings

All Food is ordered on touch screens which is nice. Food was not super accurate, got bbq sauce on chilli mac. Tables were clean and got order with in 10 min of ordering. Chicken tenders were definitely a rip off, 3 skinny strips for $6, insane. Burger was okay, extremely messy with the condiments on meals.

Shoestring Fries are awesome but you got to eat them quick, they get cold fast. Kiosk ordering.
Staff is very helpful when there is an issue such as wrong or forgotten condiments. (I go here often mistakes rarely happen but robots arent making my burger)
