Delicious food at a good price. Never expect to find a place of this caliber in the middle of Michigan's thumb. It was our first visit, but won't be the last

I have family that live in Bad Axe I visit a couple times a year. Every time I visit I must eat Rachel's. I love the decor with the fireplace that adds to the aviance. The food is always delicious. I always try new things. This last time I had an avocado appetizer. It was out of this world. Loved it so much I went back the next day and ordered it again. The wait staff are extremely nice and come back to the table several times to make sure you are well taken care of. If I could give Rachel more stars I would.

Rachel’s is a beautiful restaurant in quaint bad axe. The drinks were on point, the brussel sprouts were awesome, and the service was good. However, this restaurant presents itself as a finer dining establishment and the prices reflect that. But, the food did not rise to the occasion. The owner’s daughter was proud to defend the “hand cut” calamari that looked like French fries and seemed offended when I told her calamari doesn’t come in blocks, she called a steak. If it doesn’t look like it can swim in the ocean something is wrong and the texture reflected that. We had the white fish, salmon, and chicken and all of the protein was overcooked and under seasoned. The rice was not cooked that day. The creamy salmon soup was under seasoned, vegetables slightly undercooked, and the sauce was partially broken. The food is presented nicely, but does not live up to the prices being charged. At this price range your food needs to be on point and you can’t serve me stuff out of a bag and try to defend it as fresh. This place has a ton of potential. Hopefully the owners are listening. Until then, I will not return.

While coming here on a date night, I met a server named Bekka. You can tell she is very passionate in the industry and very knowledgeable on what she is selling. Best server we have had here, thank you Bekka!!

Been here twice. I understand why this place is popular in bad axe, interior is cozy. Dress code is casual. Service on both occasions showed that they rotate tables quickly. First time here I had the teriyaki chicken. The description mentioned it was marinated in teriyaki. It was drizzled on the chicken over rice, not marinated, which was moderately disappointing as the marinade would have added to the tenderness of the chicken, a certain level of umami, and really been a "flavor bomb" to the whole dish. I also thought the pairing of Brussels sprouts was unconventional. We ended up coming back, to give this place a second try, and I was able to capture photos. I got the broasted mushrooms which were pretty good, I was surprised as to how much flavor was captured in each bite. Though I recommend eating them quickly as the amount of water that was retained ended up making them soggy after 5-7 minutes. For the entree, I got the prime rib that was written on the "specials" board. It is hard to mess up a good piece of meat. Flavor was enhanced with mushrooms and onions, though I was dissatisfied with the plating. As you can see here, it was sitting in a pool of the juices from the meat. At a traditional steak house it would be sitting on a dry plate, and the juices "Au Jus" would be in a cup on the side. The reason this is important is so the integrity of the sides wouldn't be waterlogged. The experience of the food the second time showed me why this place can get busy.

Our Thanksgiving plans were thwarted and it looked like we were going to have to go thru the freezer section and pick a turkey tv dinner. My husband called Rachel's and they were serving Thanksgiving dinners and we ordered three. They were already up to 250+ dinners ordered. The food saved our day and it was delicious and hot. It had turkey AND ham and all the sides you would expect plus pumpkin pie for dessert! Thank you Rachel and staff for saving our holiday!

Came for a burger and fries and there was nothing special at all about it....other than the PRICE!!! There was nothing special to say about the burger and there were few fries. When they handed me the bag I asked is there anything in here. Trying to be a high class place because their son did a movie but didnt impress me one bit. I will never return again.
