Great place, old train station that they repurposed well, overall food and service is great, minus the ribs, they were just okay, oven roasted, wife some chicken/mushroom dish she enjoyed, I am not a mushroom person, did try the chicken portion and that was good, will like to visit again when we are back in the area, good drinks

I'm not sure what's happened at Clara's. This used to be THE premium spot in Battle Creek. Now it look like it's barely getting by. The best part was the service, the staff is friendly knowledgeable and attentive, and that's about where the good news ends. I'll again start the food on the best note, the Ribeye was cooked to perfection. However, we had a burger that was still pink in the middle, the fries taste like they are frozen and refried, as do the onion rings. The onion soup used to be wonderful, but it now taste like it came out of a box, the broccoli cheddar taste like it came out of a can, even the Cesar salad seemed like they skipped on the ingredients. My wife and even the soda was weak. How does a restaurant that is charging the prices they are unable to deliver quality food? Then there is the state of the place, the ledges look like the haven't dusted for at least a year, there are paint chips, gouges and food stains on the walls, stains on the floor and marks in the tables. I've been to local dive bars that have better quality food, and are maintained better, at least the staff is quality.

Went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see that for such a historical, elegant place the prices are no higher than a comparable generic place.
We enjoyed soup and salad. It was just the right amount for lunch. Our server checked up on us frequently, and orders came out within 10 minutes.
If you like architecture and history, you will love this place. The outdoor seating area looks great, but we came in November.

I got the Reuben, it was ok. The fries sucked, they were cold & half cooked.
Everything I touched, table menu, chair was all sticky.

This is a very cool location and even cooler building. The feel is very old world. The menu is super broad. We had the mozzarella wedges, the chicken cordon blue Morney, and chicken tortellini with prosciutto and basil cream sauce. The mozzarella was tasty and had a great stretch. It came with a thick marinara and some of the best ranch I've had. The cordon blue came with soup or salad and a side. I went with French Onion soup. The soup was rather bland, I wouldn't order again. The chicken cordon blue was a smaller chicken breast with a couple thin slices of ham and some cheese melted on top, smothered in Morney. The flavor was good, but the dish is a stretch. The Morney was a little bland. I really expected stuffed chicken so I was disappointed. I felt the value was weak for the portion. The chicken tortellini was slightly above average. The pasta itself was the low spot. The sauce was delicious. The dish comes in half and full portions. The full portion seemed a little light, made me wonder what the half portion looked like. Service was very friendly, not necessarily attentive. It did take a while to get our check after we finished. Overall its a good experience in an amazing venue. I'll come back for sure to try some other dishes. They have an extensive dessert menu, next time I'll skip the app and get some dessert.

Clara’s on the river is a great place to eat. The staff are very friendly and courteous and the food is great!
Great food. So many many menu options. Fast friendly staff.
Lovely restaurant with a deep history, it's like visiting a museum. The food was lovely and delicious and well priced. The service was efficient and friendly. All in all, a great dining experience with a unique historical experience to go with it. My daughter loved it so much she even left them a picture that they hung up, which was nice of them, it made her day.

I love this place! Great food, service was good, and the restaurant is so unique with lots of windows and beautiful garden area. Perfect date location!
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary today at Clara’s in their banquet room. Clara’s made this a very special experience for us and our family. The buffet luncheon was awesome and we had very attentive service. Would totally have another party here and will recommend to everyone.
Enjoyed an expensive half salad

The ambiance of this historic building was the highlight of our dining experience. Beautiful architecture and decor are great but unfortunately is overshadowed by higher end prices and mid level cuisine at best. The plating was similar to home cooking thrown onto a plate. Some of our food was suspiciously soggy inside the breading, reminiscent of frozen food.
