French onion soup and salad was excellent! The location, atmosphere and service was Fantastic, we loved it!

Called to place a pickup order at 7:10pm, was told it would be 15-20 minutes. I show up to the business to pick up my order, the individual at the front went to check, returned and stated they are trying to find my order. Another individual comes to the front a few minutes later and brings me an order for "Jacob" I stated my name was Josh, she says the individual from the front provided the wrong name. By no means was the place busy and seemed to have adequate staffing. I left the business with my order at 7:55pm. If the staff is going to be incompetent and wait times for orders are over 40 minutes, they should provide seating up front for customers to sit down and wait.

We were staying a couple nights at FireKeepers Casino and was looking for a place to eat. We were so pleased with ' Clara's on the River". So interesting that it was an old train station.... And all the history that was in it. The outside seating was beautiful & relaxing. I had the 1/2 sandwich & soup. Tuna salad on an English muffin with pineapple (DELICIOUS)& chose French onion soup (So GOOD!) Hubby had perch sandwich & black beans with rice. It was either $12 or $13 dollars. He really liked it. We are gonna go back tonight as there were so many things we wanted to try on the menu. And tonight the start having music outside :) our waitress was very friendly and efficient! This will be our go to place whenever in Battlecreek!

We were lucky to get a table in the room with extra tall ceiling. Good food, great dessert menu. Train theme throughout. Nice for an intimate dinner, or a business meal.

Welcome back to Joseph's reviews! Me and the family tried to have a great meal at a usual great restaurant. But today was an immense exception. We put our names in with about a 15 minute wait. So we went to explore the river and still have not gotten the call about 30 minutes later. So after getting a little warm and wanting to cool off we went to wait inside... for another half hour. We finally had enough and asked "what's our wait time looking like?" To find out they lost our phone number and name. So we put our names back in was told a 45 minute wait just like the 5 different party's that were now ahead of us, and ended up never calling. Thank you Finleys for saving the night!

This is a very cozy place. Temperature in the restaurant was perfect. I highly recommend the French onion soup. Probably the best I've eaten. The blt was very tasty. My mom had the chicken salad croissant and was very happy with it. The desserts were also amazing. We shared the lemon cake and the key lime pie. We will definitely be back. Prices very reasonable.

wonderful ambiance, delicious food and great portions. if you love historical venues, this is one not to miss.
I went to an interview I have more experience then most and I am so friendly but because I have a past they wouldn't hire the manger that was there treated me like crap. definitely will never eat there nor recommended this place

I would normally say recommend. We have been to Clara’s many many times. Today, we took our son who has food allergies with us and declared it immediately. It was “noted” but when the appetizers came out, there was nothing he could eat. This needs to be better. We ended up ordering more than we needed just so he could have something to snack on. Poor communication and execution. Food allergies are real and common. A nice dinner was ruined by this.
