We had an amazing time at this establishment! The staff was incredibly friendly; we felt happy and welcomed there. Everyone was attentive to our needs but not in an overbearing way. We'll definitely return again! The food was amazing! Whatever you do, get the Waygu salt slab! Highly recommend 💚✨
Experiencia única, Pero tienen que tener todas las luces ensendidas para las fotos, Pero lo demás un 100
My wife and I have been coming to Castaway for over 20 years, usually twice a year. It used to be one of our favorite places — a landmark with great food, a romantic atmosphere, and a sense of tradition. After taking a break for a a year, we decided to start the tradition back up and booked a late Valentine's dinner on February 15th. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst dining mistake we've ever made. Atmosphere: From Romantic to Nightclub The moment we arrived, we were hit with extremely loud house/techno music. Staff and customers were yelling just to talk or place orders. It felt more like a club than a restaurant. Even outside, the noise was overwhelming. Our table wobbled so badly that it spilled our drinks — twice — before the staff managed to partially fix it. Food Issues: A Complete Decline We ordered appetizers. My wife always gets the wedge salad and always asks for no blue cheese because it makes her ill. Not only did they change the dressing from vinaigrette to a bland “house-made ranch” that tasted like straight mayo, but they also scraped the blue cheese off instead of removing it. Plenty was still left. We politely asked for it to be corrected. Instead of simply fixing the salad, the server brought over a manager we didn't ask for. He clearly didn't care, didn't listen, and gave us champagne — which we don't drink — without even asking. Then came the entrées. We ordered the steak sampler for $140, medium. What we got was burnt, beyond well-done, and honestly something Applebee's could have done better. It tasted like it was cooked by someone who had never made a steak before. The manager came over again, still uninterested and dismissive. A Once-Magical Place, Now Unrecognizable We asked why the restaurant felt like a nightclub. Staff told us the owners insist on the loud music and that customers complain all the time. That says everything. The owners have taken a beloved, iconic restaurant and turned it into an overpriced, low-quality
This was my second time at Castaway, a restaurant I've recommended to family visiting from out of town. I decided to celebrate my birthday brunch here because of my previous positive experience. Overall, everything was going well and we truly enjoyed our server, Jason — he was attentive and kind throughout the meal. However, the experience took a concerning turn when one of my friends found glass inside her water glass. We quietly sent it back and initially chose not to make it an issue. Shortly after, we noticed that two additional water glasses at our table also contained broken pieces of glass. This was extremely alarming, as the situation could have resulted in serious injury. The manager offered us 25% off the bill, but given the severity of the issue and the clear safety risk, I felt this response was inadequate. Having worked in fine dining myself, I understand mistakes can happen, but something involving glass in multiple drinks is a major health and liability concern. In my professional opinion, the entire meal should have been comped. It's unfortunate because we had been enjoying ourselves and I would have gladly returned in the future had this been handled more appropriately. I hope management takes situations like this more seriously moving forward.
This is the third time in 3 years I have driven up from Metro Detroit for the fantastic food ans immaculate service. Hailey is always friendly, attentive and worth the drive every time. Would reccomend this place to anyone! Really love it in the summer when you can enjoy the view to the fullest.

Shrimp was overcooked. Creamy coconut sauce for the shrimp was like coconut milk. And the service? We did a lot of waiting for service. Our waitress spent a lot more time entertaining her male co-workers than tending to us! Not worth it 😕

Tasting menu was not worth $300. The cavier bump was a nice add on. I added the win pairing. Service was great! Brandon was amazing even tho it was super busy. I guess it was something to do. But I would prob pass on dinner next time
Never ever do their pre fix- multi course menu EVER! What a rip off this place was, save your self and go spend $200 elsewhere you can get a better meal for $200/person anywhere else. We had the worst experience 2025 New Year's Eve. The entire dinner was subpar, food came out cold consistently. There was nothing special about the meal, none of the courses were exceptional by any means. The pasta was pre made pasta... the beef Wellington was a tiny slice of beef Wellington... it's New Year's Eve ... we're here to celebrate, give us a full Wellington. Anything extra is a $40 minimum up charge, they even had waitresses walking around with caviar that they imply to be free and part of the experience and then try to slap $100 extra on the bill for the experience lol. There was never any implication the caviar was an up charge. Once we got to dessert I was hoping for it to save the meal... we got a ball of ice cream with whipped cream and to make it worse they poured liquor all over it to light on fire, which I thought was a cool touch... until you ate the dessert and you're drinking ice cream liquor that didn't burn... gross. On top of all that the service was terrible, we expressed our distaste for the dessert and our waitress replied with “glad you like it” ... when we got the check the waitress says “would you like to tip 18, 20 or 25%” none of your damn business lady!!!! We won't ever be coming back and I hope this review saves you, your friends and family from this place. HIGHWAY ROBBERY
We have gone to Castaways for our NYE dinner for the past 5 years, and it keeps getting disappointingly worse every time. The food was small in proportion and taste for the cost. The staff are very nice but understaffed. By the time the food gets to you, it's as if it's been sitting, waiting to be picked up, and it's cold. The time between courses is irregular, and the wait staff often doesn't know what was served to whom or when. The best part of the NYE dinner was the salad, yet the price keeps going up. Also, NYE entertainment didn't start until 9 pm, when it once was also during the earlier seating times. We love Castaways and want to come back, but for the cost, it just can't be justified.
We went to Castaway for New Year's Eve. We had a 5pm dinner reservation. Thought the restaurant was only 30% occupied at the time, we still waited 15 minutes to be seated another 15 minutes after we were seated for the waiter to arrive. The food was fair at best. The pasta was undercooked while the sauce was cold. The lobster was cooked well, but again the sauce was grainy and congealed. The biggest issue was the wine pairings we paid $62 each for wine pairings and only 1 of 5 courses arrived on time with the food. The rest were served after 90% of the food was eaten. After the 2nd course, we asked if all the wine pairings could be served up front so we would not have to wait for them, but were told That was illegal. I've received wine flights at other restaurants so I didn't think it was illegal to receive more than 1 glass of wine at once, especially when there are only 1-2 ozs of wine in each glass. Overall, we spent over $600 for 2 and felt it was very expensive for the experience we got.

My daughter and I had a wonderful dinner with a nice view. The service from our server, Karen, was exemplary. She really made our night perfect with her attention to details. The only negative was the couple dining at the next table. There was a proposal which was joyous however, their lack of consideration did put a slight damper on our experience. They were a bit loud with their family and friends gathering all around us and had a photographer doing their photo shoot in our area. We are so lucky that our server noticed and put a stop to the “paparazzi” activity. We will definitely request her services whenever we dine at Castaway!
Our server Karen was attentive and amazing overall but i was underwhelmed by the change in menu. The "ill take my chances" has been taken off the menu. Sad, it was an amazing experience but now feels like a generic place to come to.
Celebrated son's birthday and had an excellent experience as a family. We were concerned that outdoor dining would be cold and breezy, but it was toasty warm, absolutely clearest night for viewing city lights. Food was delicious and service outstanding! They managed a lot of parties quickly with a sense of gracious hospitality. Will be returning for sure1
This was my second time here for my birthday. I remembered the food was outstanding so I decided to spin the block this year.
