Truly the best dining experience that you can have in this area (probably this region). Incredibly smart and creative menu that has the best balance of flavors. Definitely for those looking for something different that are slightly on the adventurous side and looking to try new things. Did not disappoint and counting the days until I can go back!

Firstly, the space is beautiful. Cozy, warmly lit, comfortable. We started with a cocktail then let our server lead the way and he did an amazing job.
The milk bread, wow.
Beets, delish.
Tartare was out of this world. An absolute burst of flavor.
Crab tagliatelle, decadent without being over indulgent and lovely bits of crab throughout.
The trout was just right. Perfectly cooked with a chunky pecan crust that tasty and toasty wasn't overly sweet and paired with a brown butter orzo, absolutely lovely.
We didn't let a single morsel go to waste. My BF nearly licked the plate on a few dishes.
The bread pudding was good but the boozy raisins was just a little much (I was so full, so that might have been part of the problem).
My only wish list would be for felt pads or something on the feet of the chairs. They were so loud when they scrape across the floor, it broke into an otherwise lovely ambiance. Will absolutely be back!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life: everything complimented so well together and the drinks were amazing as well. Will definitely be coming back to Benton Harbor just for this restaurant

Wow! Fantastic experience at Houndstooth. It's the type of meal you don't want to end, and hold off finishing that last delicious bite. Very creative ingredients with layered flavors that hit perfectly. It's a splurge meal. A special occasion delight. I can't say enough about the service. Ava was our server. Pleasant and efficient. Each dish came out minutes after we finished the previous one, and dirty plates were replaced promptly. Selections were explained as they were placed in front of us. We were lucky enough to sit at the counter close to the bartender and his skill was something to behold.

We dined at Houndstooth restaurant in Benton Harbor for the first time tonight…it was truly wonderful in every way! The food was unique and delicious. The staff incredible…Thomas was our waiter and he was one of the best waiters we’ve ever had and he made our dining experience so much more!! Highly recommend!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was an unforgettable experience. We sat at the counter and watched Ryan and Brooklyn perform magic putting together beautiful and delicious dishes. Our server Kate was fantastic. And owner/ chef Cheyenne was buzzing around the restaurant with passion. I recommend everyone add Houndstooth to your list!

Grading on a curve here for geography……it might be a Five Star Michigan restaurant, but locate this in NYC or Chicago and you’ve got a regular neighborhood place.
Prices are very high for Michigan and for what you get - case in point a few burnt carrots for $17.
Service was one star consistently- the waiter kept kicking my chair, timing from the kitchen was slow, drinks took forever to arrive. Our small plates had not been changed out by our third course- I looked and looked for someone to notice- finally I got up and changed the plates myself.
Food itself seemed spartan and lacking individual character- our first three dishes had dill on them - must have been a dill giveaway at the farmers market.
If you’re visiting the area, this may or may not be worth the drive - depending on whether you live in a city well populated with Michelin restaurants. Houndstooth would be a Bib Gourmond restaurant in my mind.

Wow! Houndstooth is truly outstanding. The service was top notch, we also loved the creative menu items. Every dish we had was perfectly balanced flavour-wise (I will never forget that tamarind-tangy chili jam shrimp omg). It was the perfect spot for our 7 year anniversary!

We love Houndstooth’s food and drinks, and drove 45 minutes there to celebrate a birthday. The dishes and cocktails were all amazing, but we waited almost an hour for the last two dishes in our order, the second of which we asked to be boxed up since we’d been there for over 2 hours and needed to get home. During the time we were waiting, our waiter checked in with us only twice, once to give us a new bottle of water and the second time to give us fresh plates. He didn’t apologize for the delay until after a half hour of us waiting and never offered us a nibble or drink gratis, as is customary in that situation. Seems like they need to hire twice as many cook staff for the number of customers they attract, especially on busy weekend nights.

Houndstooth was a great experience and I highly recommend that you stop and give it a try! Every dish felt perfect and well thought out. Service was prompt and exceptional. Portion sizes were well balanced and well worth any $ amount. Come check this place out for a nice night out! I will definitely be coming back!
