What an amazing find! A true gem! I can't take credit for finding The Mason Jar Cafe as I was brought by friends who are from the area. But I'm sure glad they brought me! l love the repurposed building turned into a restaurant that now brings life back into the downtown area.
I was here for brunch with friends who recommended the corned beef hash. This is not from a can, but is made with chunks of real corned beef, fresh potatoes and onions, seasoned just right and served with eggs cooked to order, and a choice of various kinds of toast (l got rye). There were several options.
I tell you what, l've never had corned beef hash so good. It really was delicious and generous, served with a smile.
The server did a fantastic job ensuring we had all we needed. She brought me a refill before I had to ask. Drinks are served in Mason jars - as the name suggests.
We dined on the patio. The weather was perfect. I highly recommend this place!

Lauren’s special is deep fried tofu chunks, some beans and veggies drowned in a sweet tomato sauce that they strangely call ranchero sauce. It was a good concept, but the execution was awful. Couldn’t eat more than a few bites. At least they tried to make something vegan and they took it off the bill.
Love their vegan pancakes and huevos rancheros with tofu!

Excellent find in Benton Harbor with not many choices. Food was very high quality and had lots of healthy and interesting options. I had a salad with added salmon that was hearty and delicious. Whatever the house dressing is should be bottled. Well worth a stop!

Every dish ever had here was way beyond expectations, every server was delightful, atmosphere is genuine and easygoing and eclectic. Every kinda person in Benton Harbor goes to this place. Sometimes there's bluegrass players practicing in the side rooms. Sometimes everyone is going to each other's tables and chatting. And again: food is creative and authentic and delicious.
