Gave 4 stars cause the wait of the food. Staff was nice, checked on us a couple of times, we had to ask for to go boxes and after we got our food didn't see anyone. Food was good and how I ordered it.

Food took a little longer to get out to me and once we got our food we didn’t see the staff, had to track someone down to get to go boxes. Food was good exactly as I ordered it.

Looks like this is a well- loved local institution and we were eager to try it. In the 5 minutes we stood in the otherwise empty waiting area, the staff passed us by about 10 times without even lifting their eyes to acknowledge we were there. If they had even paused to mention that there was a wait for a table, we probably would have stayed to see what the fuss was about. Instead, we left to find a more welcoming alternative. Glad to see this restaurant is doing well and has found their own way to manage a full house, but we don't be back.

This establishment makes you feel welcomed in a way I never personally have never been before. The food is delicious, and the service is friendly and eager to please. Everything about this place is worth the trip. Originally moved to this town for college, and this little restaurant makes me miss home a little less. I recommend anything on the menu, but you can't go wrong with the pasties. Delicious flaky pastry, and the filling is unbeatable. If I could give a higher rating I would.

What a great find. Pancakes were great. Seems like a gem, fresh home cooked food service was great and friendly

Very cute place, had fantastic weather to sit outside. As with many small places, they are doing outside only for dine in, until such time as more restrictions lift. The staff was very friendly. A few "back and forths" on my order as wait staff switched up, but the "shotgun" was delivered quickly. My only complaint is the ho hum coffee, made even more ho hum in a Styrofoam cup. The food, location and service was fantastic. Please visit this place and keep on supporting small business!

Curbside breakfast pickup on a lazy Sunday morning. Oh my! Food here left us full and speechless. Sooo good! We were on our way to Traverse City Labor Day weekend and stopped over in Big Rapids knowing absolutely nothing about the area. Can I say, absolutely lovely little town! Beautiful homes, clean streets, very cool university campus and delicious food!! We found Alamode on Yelp and website information gave clear instructions for calling in orders and ordering online. Every picture of every dish looked yummy and every description sounded scrumdiddlyumptious! We went with a Breakfast Quesadilla and the Shotgun (they had me at "its loaded!") Loaded meant three cheeses: mozzarella, cheddar and provolone atop thinly sliced, perfectly fried potatoes, ham and peppers. We took our haul to nearby Swede Hill Park where we spread out in the car and ate while watching the river and rapids below. Food was perfect! Epic impromtu stopover and experience! My favorite kind!

We initially ended up at the old address which pointed us to the new place… From everything we witnessed here they are following all the recommendations for Covid. Tables are outside and spaced appropriately. Lots of hand sanitizer and paper products are utilized to reduce cross-contamination.There is no inside dining currently. We were the first ones to this cozy little place on Sunday morning. Judy and Pam both welcomed us And made suggestions as well as shared the specials. Options for breakfast all sounded amazing!! My husband and I both picked the breakfast quesadillas and had the option of adding different ingredients. We could’ve easily split one of the orders but didn’t know that going into it. The food was fresh and well prepared. Coffee was Hot and plentiful and we were offered a to-go cup.Due to Covid entrées were so served in a Styrofoam container which was fine with us. There’s an option for everybody on their menu. Great place to stop if you were in big Rapids also easy access from US 131

On a weekend trip to Big Rapids, stopped by at Alamode Cafe for brunch. The entire experience was very satisfying. My friends and I got there and were seated outside in the patio. Immediately we were given the menus and were offered coffee and water. The ladies did an excellent job letting us ask questions and accommodating us with anything and everything we had asked for. Both ladies that served was were very kind and generous. We ordered food and it came out in a very timely manner. My friends and I ordered several entrees and none of them were short of amazing. If I had to choose one meal that I would get over an over again, it would probably be the "Shotgun" meal. Its made with 5 different cheese, potatoes, your choice of meat and your style of eggs. Oh and also toast on top of that! It was so delicious! Definitely will be back here on my next up north trip.

This was my first time visiting Big Rapids. I start a job there starting June. I wanted to get a feel for the restaurant scene as I am a huge foodie. I went past all the fast food fare and this cute pancake house caught my eye. I hoped it was open due to the current situation. I went through my phone to check on the phone number and reviews. Promptly a old lady in a apron came up to my car clad in a colorful face mask and said in a bright voice how are you what can I get ya. I needed a second to decide and with another smile she said take your time. I called in a order for white and blue waffles that was modified. No meat and extra veg on the scrambled eggs. I went around to the memorial park across the eatery where I met another old lady that was so freindly! We talked about how she moved to a bunch of places and her life now. She told me about nice things to do in the area and "How a nice young man could find pretty girls in the park " My order came in promtly, and I went to Meadowbrook park to enjoy a meal. The meal came with a sanitized napkin upon request. And neatly organized into black boxes. Belgium waffle was excellent. Had both strawberry and blueberry compote and a whipped creme that felt home-made. Eggs were fresh and the potatoes I ordered were amazing as well. Everything has a homecooked quality to it. I enjoyed my meal on the river. Would love to come back for there pasties which I hear are homemade. So with the freindly service, excellent food at a very stellar price and location, decour and aura I would highly reccomend this place. 94/100 Mazadarpoints

Update since new location. We have gone twice to the new location and while the food is outstanding the service has dramatically slipped. The first time we went our waitress forgot to enter our order and we had a significant delay. Thankfully the news of the delay came with the staff comping our meal (without us asking). Our second visit was just subpar service. We were told that food would be running a bit late as a number of people had just been seated. That was fine, but during the delay our waiter never stopped by the table or provided drink refills. The new location now hosts smaller glasses and this was disappointing. When our food came out, it wasn't correct, although not enough to send back. My cheeseburger had no toppings, we received pickles we had asked to not be on our plate and they forgot a side dish. Our server delivered the food to a table of empty glasses and again no offer of a refill. We were to hungry to think of it. Only when the check was delivered we're we asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks. Really hope the service can turn around. This place was a gem. I look forward to some good trips to update this review back to 5 stars.

It's a nice place. I love the food and service. They have lots of menu choices. It's a good place to try for brunch.

This place is a ways off the freeway exit, on the east side of town. It is definitely worth the detour if you are traveling to/from Northern Michigan! My omelet was delicious. But - my husband ordered the make your own breakfast sandwich. It was served like a Benedict without the sauce and the eggs were SO perfectly cooked! We will definitely make this our new stop on the way home from Up North.
