Food used to be great, now it’s just okay. Biggest crime is charging money for chips and salsa which used to be free.

Always good. Had the walleye tacos this time. Best fish tacos I've had.

I picked up a takeout order New Year's Eve. I had the Birrias Tacos and it was very tasty, good size portion and reasonably priced. I will visit again!

I have never had a decent meal here. I have given them several tries. Not sure how people think this is so good.

Bartender was chatty and fun, but also gave my group space to talk amongst ourselves.

I used to go frequently for the Chili crusted chicken twister. While in Boyne a couple months ago I ordered one to go. When I got home I found out it mostly onion with a little lettuce and couple small pieces of chicken. I threw it in the garbage. I was later told there's new owners. Good luck, I won't be back.

Red Mesa was my go to place since it opened. At least 3 times a month, friends and I would go. The new menu and management has us finding other places. My two favorite things were the pork burrito and the 1 ancho chicken taco that came with beans and rice. I’m not a huge eater, so that was perfect for me. Now they only have a dinner portion of chicken tacos on the menu with corn and sauce. They now charge for chips and salsa, which is wild work. At least make the first one free. $16 for a cheese quesadilla? C’mon now. I miss the days when Patti was there and the restaurant was good. I don’t think it was broke, so why did they make all of these changes? Oh, and the menu is a ridiculous layout. I think a child must’ve designed that. I’m just so sad that my former favorite restaurant isn’t even in my rotation anymore.

Edit: Red Mesa messed up big time. They changed their menu and the fish tacos were included in that change. Not near as good as they were. Why restaurants always feel the need to fix what’s not broken is beyond me. We made the trip from petoskey to boyne city for the sole purpose of eating fish tacos at Red Mesa. My wife was crushed when they brought them to our table. No more cabbage slaw and fried fish. Now it’s a small piece of grilled fish with some mango salsa. Very bland, not much flavor. To add insult to injury, the complimentary chips and salsa went by the wayside as well. No more. Needless to say, sadly our annual trip up north every August won’t be including a trip to Red Mesa. They had a good thing but like they say. “All good things must come to an end.
Fish Tacos I’ve ever had. We aways make a point to stop and have dinner at red mead when we camp Nextdoor at the state park. Last year we camped in Petoskey and made the trip to Their Boone City location. Fish tacos didn’t disappoint.

BEWARE. They charged $1 for a drinking straw, $2.99 for chips and salsa. After we told them we didn't want an appetizer he then asked if we wanted chips and salsa while we waited. Then they charged us for them. Scam.

Always a great experience with quality food. All of the Magnum hospitality restaurants are good, but I especially love Red Mesa.

We had to pay for chips and salsa!!! Even mom and pop Mexican restaurants give this for free. Menu has reduced to nothing. Service very slow two tables and meal was 35 minutes coming out! Very disappointed
