We have frequented Lai Thai for almost 4 years now. That loyalty is our own true testament for their excellence in both flavors and service. The owner and his family are always so welcoming and attentive. Our regular dishes are the Tom Kha Gai soup for appetizer, the C11 curry and anything with the basil base (Basil Fried Rice, Pad Gra Praw). All the dishes are packed with unique blend of favors. The curry has a very distinct rich and citrusy profile, while their basil base is deeply infused with the herbs. I can’t say enough good words about this place, you ll have to try it out!

My husband and I had one of our first dates here 22 years ago. We have visited anytime we are near enough, as we don’t live close. A couple of times a year we would drop in for their E6 sweet and sour with shrimp, their hot and sour soup and spring rolls. For 22 years we have had great service, where they remembered us and our orders as if we were regular customers. 22 years of delicious food in an atmosphere that feels like home. Great place. Nice fresh and tasty food with a good selection of menu items. Loved their Crab Rangoons and their Curry Puffs. Also, all the rice items and noodles were tasty too. Service was great and the price was reasonable.
I requested an OFF MENU Thai dish (Gaeng Jued noodle soup), and they made it for me! It was DELICIOUS!

I had been missing Thai food so I ventured to Canton to visit Lai Thai. I was impressed by the decor and the ambiance. It was warm and inviting on a freezing December night. We sat in a booth. They do not have a liquor license so I was bummed I could not have a Singha. We ordered curry puffs, spring rolls, Thai hot and sour soup, Tom yum, chicken peanut curry, and squid with curry and green beans.
The service was friendly and attentive. My water glass was kept full and they checked on us multiple times.
I wanted to love this place, but the food was fairly mid. The spring rolls had little filling. The soups were nice, but the Tom yum was mostly broth. The curry puffs were great. The main entries were odd. The chicken peanut curry was super thick and sweet. It was as if they just dumped an entire jar of sweet satay sauce over the chicken. It was tough to finish. The squid with green beans came out on a platter, but it was swimming in sauce. It was almost like soup. It was literally squid and beans, no other detectable veggies or spices. I ordered extra hot and my dining partner ordered medium. We believe the heat level of both entries were the same. I am not sure what was going on there. This place has all of the proper Thai vibes in every way but the food.
