I ordered two rolls and seaweed salad and what I thought was edamame. The spicy tuna looked like it had food coloring and tasted like really sweet. Was really odd. Instead of fresh veggies in the rolls they put lots of greasy tempura crumbs. It's a cheap ploy in Michigan and I really detest it. Instead of edamame they brought me takoyaki and it was not cooked all the way inside. I want fresh quality fish and veggies when I get sushi and this was not it. Was tons of low quality fried food.

Decided to stop by this place after visiting the IKEA of Canton, and was extremely surprised with how great everything tastes, as well as being affordable! If I ever stop in Canton, I’ll for sure come back to this little spot.

I’ve tried tonkatsu and tantanmen ramen at other places, but the broth was often too heavy with pork flavor. Here, the balance was perfect—rich, flavorful, but not overwhelming. The dragon roll was outstanding, with tempura that stayed super crispy. The ramen broths were deep with umami, and the jellied egg was spot-on. The noodles tasted fresh and homemade, and I enjoyed every bite down to the last drop of broth.
The food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Definitely one of the best ramen spots I’ve been to—I’ll be coming back for sure!

I remember always visiting this restaurant with my friends, my two cousins and my two sister in the past, when it was still own by the original owner. I always like this restaurant for having a variety of amazing Japanese dish with affordable price and good portion.
When one of my friend told me to visit the restaurant one time, because it was under new management, we decided to check it out.
While there I was going to order myself a corn butter ramen, Katsudon, or rice curry, which were the common order that I would always make when visiting Matsuchan. But as soon as I look over the new menu and after talking with the new owner, I soon realized that the order that I was going to make as usual won't be on the new menu. Also, both me and my friend were kind of disappointed by the cost of our miso ramen, cost of the appetizer, and the portion size. However, we both still like the flavor of our soup, the service was good, and the atmosphere are just as good like when it was still under the previous owner.
I understand that this restaurant had just recently been bought under a new owner, and it would be difficult to still make the same order of food with a good portion like how it was under the previous owner with this economy. But my only question would be, when will the new owner reinstate much of the old order from the previous owner and if they will ever be reinstated?

This is the first time i have been there since the new managing. I had the tantan Ramen and it was awesome. Everything is made in house. The stock is made with bones and simmer 24 hrs. You can taste it and feel it. The noodles are made in house too and very well cook. They are cooked al dente.

Definitely an improvement in the environment and seating. Do miss the old menu items such as curry chicken and champon soup. The food is excellent but just not the same.

This is our first visit after management change, and it was a joyful and pleasant visit, we had the chance to chat with the owner, he was very kind in explaining everything is made from scratch. The soup is thick and rich in flavor, thanks for being simmer for more than 24 hours. The spicy sauces are home made. Musubi sushi is a must. Gyozas are perfectly fried. The place is cozy and friendly. We just love Ramen. We will come back to try sushi and poke bowls. If you love Ramen you need to visit and fall in love with the food.

Amazing ramen,
Best I’ve had in Michigan, hands down.
Would recommend for authentic great tasting ramen.
Broth and noodles both out of this world.

The ramen is authetic, but the value is not what it once was. Matsu was a Sunday delight for me, but I will not be returning.

We have been coming to this restaurant since 2021 and enjoyed its good quality authentic Japanese comfort food - until today. We were surprised to see that it has a new owner and chef now. The menu is also new. We thought we’d give it a try.
It is nothing even remotely close to what this place used to offer. There are only three ramen dishes (compared to 20+ in the past) and they all taste like they are made with the same flavor pouch you get in an Asian super market. They offer sushi now but the rice and fish are clearly from the day before. It would be an understatement to say that we are disappointed.
Also, how is it even honest and ethical when they offer something entirely new; while exploiting the great reviews that the old owner worked so hard to maintain all his years here? We left the place with sadness and anger. We will never come back.

Service was excellent! They offered to substitute ramen pork or chicken broth for vegan, and it was delicious. I would say perfect portion sizes. Boyfriend says the poke bowl is the best he’s ever had! Will come back for sure.

We ordered the shoyu ramen, spicy tonkatsu ramen and spring rolls and everything was delicious!! The ramen was flavorful and the noodles were perfect - this is the best ramen we’ve found anywhere locally. And the spring rolls were fresh and homemade. We will absolutely be back!
