Our server, Troy, was an absolute rock star. We came in as a small circus — two adults, two kids, and a toddler — and he handled our chaos with grace, patience, and a genuine smile the whole time!
Brittany and Melanie were managing together for the Trunk or Treat event, and they completely knocked it out of the park. The whole experience felt like coming home to family — warm, welcoming, and full of laughter.
I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, and it was excellent. My sister got the Classic Slim Jim, and let’s just say the fries didn’t stand a chance — we ended up ordering more because they were that good! Troy had them out within minutes, thanks to the cooks in the back who nailed everything perfectly.
You won’t find “five-star fine dining” here — and that’s exactly the point. Big Boy isn’t about perfection; it’s about comfort, community, and nostalgia. It brings you back to simpler times when great food and friendly faces were all that mattered — and that’s what makes it so perfectly imperfect.

We arrived at Big Boy around 6:50 PM. The restaurant was nearly empty — only about four other families were there — so we didn’t expect to wait long. However, it took five minutes just to be seated, and then another ten minutes before we even received our drinks.
While waiting, we noticed the staff turning off the lights on the salad bar, even though it was still early in the evening. When our waiter, Cade, finally returned, I asked if the salad bar was closed. He seemed unsure and told me, “We normally shut it down at 6:30, but a family came in that wanted it.” This was at 7:08 PM, and nothing had been removed from the bar yet.
I asked why we couldn’t still get the salad bar since it was clearly still set up, and his answer made no sense — something about the previous family being done, so they were shutting it down. When I questioned this logic, Cade just walked off without another word or even taking our menus, leaving us sitting there awkwardly.
The whole situation gave the impression that the staff simply wanted to close early and make the night easier for themselves, regardless of customer experience. For a place that’s supposed to be family-friendly and welcoming, this was incredibly disappointing. We ended up leaving frustrated and won’t be coming bacl.
