I meant a fellow veteran for breakfast. I did not realize Big Boy still existed as a restaurant until he asked me to meet him there and later told me these restaurants are some of his favorites which he always stops at throughout the state of Michigan on the job.
I can honestly say I have not been to a Big Boys restaurant in over 30 years. Some of the happiest times of my youth we're eating at a Big Boys restaurant with my grandparents and or my parents.
I can't speak a lot about the food but the service was excellent and the Nostalgia was in high gear.

Server tried and was nice but obviously was not trained, a burger and chicken sandwich took 1/2 hour to get only 4 tables were occupied. Pop was flat. Burger was cold and awful. Fries were ok. Chicken sandwich was soggy. Server didn't check on us. Watched cool watching something on his phone while cooking, one cook didn't look like he ever showered.

My mom & I met there today for lunch. Our server, Bree (I think that was her name?) was fantastic. Attentive, bubbly & personable, & most of all patient. We ended up being what servers call “campers”, as we were there quite awhile, & she took great care of us with a smile, the entire time. Give that girl a raise. As a 25 year veteran server/bartender myself, including Big Boy WAY back in the day, I know great service, & she delivered. Food was good too. I always love a good soup & salad bar!

Food was cold, waitress never came back to do drink refills. We were give a 20% discount which is fair since we all ate about half our food because we waited a really long time for the waitress to come back to let her know how terrible it was. What a way to ring in the new year.
