If you are wondering if the crab stuffed walleye is worth it, it is.
Love Melissa at the Side Door and Lola at the Tiki. Everyone here is very friendly, the food is done well and presented in a pleasing manner. We usually get burgers or sandwiches. On our next visit we are planning to try the meatballs, as other patrons gave it positive reviews. We just started coming this summer and plan to make it a regular event.
We just stopped here to eat on the recommendation from some locals we had gone parasailing with. I ordered walleye. My husband and son both got the Wednesday special shrimp boil with added crab legs. We got 2 apps. Crab cakes and onion petals. Everything was fantastic. Great service. Got some specialty cocktails. Blackberry lime mojito for my son. Husband got old fashion. Both were great.
Very nice restaurant off the beaten path near Torch Lake. Our party of six was seated immediately at 7 on a Thursday. Service was attentive and the food was delicious. We started with the rosemary goat cheese dip. At that point we knew we were in for an exceptional meal.
Our main courses were
* day special of country fried steak with mashed potatoes and the best garlicky buttery green beans.
* For a lighter meal the orchard salad was lovely! However they initially brought me a cob salad. It was so delicious, I didn’t even complain. However the server realized the error and brought me the correct salad without being asked. BONUS - I have salad for tomorrow!!
* Tortellini with andouille sausage. He added chicken and basically licked the bowl clean!
* Crab stuffed walleye with lemon butter sauce. The breading was perfect, fish was flaky and perfectly cook. The crab was a wonderful addition to a perfect dish. This was my favorite and I highly recommend this.
Portions were HUGE - you could easily share an entree. Give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed!
We had dinner here this evening and everything was wonderful. Our waitress Gabriella was amazing. She handled our group of 11 like a champ! Thank you!
Everything about the blue pelican Inn was wonderful
We came in from Grand Rapids and would love to try this place again next time we are in town
Are dinner our first night in town, very nice selection of items, staff super friendly, food very good
Restaurant service is horrible. Got seated and no one ever asked me for anything even with a menu sitting on the table
Decent food... Chuck is a very good waiter.
I gave our visit a 3. Went on Valentines Day & ordered from their special menu for the event. My crab stuffed walleye with lemon butter appeared to be heated up when ordered. Didn’t seem fresh. Then it was topped with a yummy lemon butter sauce. The “whipped Gruyère potatoes”, I used my fork to pick it up off the plate as a whole. Like a hockey puck. The price for this special dish was $34.99. I was disappointed.
My husbands Porterhouse steak was perfect. So was the shrimp appetizer. So parts to our visit were very nice. Not sure if we will be back. It’s hard to pay $35 for a dish that falls flat.

Great food & service! Beautiful view from the deck or sun room... Management works extra hard to keep their menu & activities updated online! Servers are delightful & keep the pace of the dining room flowing as quickly as they can. Besides the regular restaurant they also boast the Sidedoor Saloon that is a sort of speakeasy in the basement of this 100 year old Inn... A bit less formal with great pizza & separate menu from dining upstairs. Only place in the area to get pizza, brunch on weekends & great dinner specials both up/downstairs throughout most of the week. Things do slow down for winter. Friday cod fry cannot be beaten!! Chinese food on the menu Wednesdays! They use local ingredients so sometimes they may be out of something on the menu, my best advice would be to make sure you're looking at their actual menu on their actual website, which is kept up to date, & call if you have questions about anything! Menu/hours change with the seasons so looking at a five month old picture of a menu will lead you astray.
