We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a couple of burgers and onion rings. Staff was friendly and the burgers were fresh and tasty. Very affordable and good quality. Just be rest to pay cash.

A large chocolate shake, with chocolate ice cream - served quickly, even if there’s a rush going on.

Cute and casual roadside stop with tasty burgers and fries. The amaretto cherry ice cream was delicious. Pretty busy so there was a bit of a wait.

All around a great outdoor fried food and ice cream joint! Burgers were satisfying (the bacon is worth the extra 💵 😋) and the ice cream was good quality! The cheese curds exceeded expectations and the fried pickles were good too. NOTE that this place is CASH ONLY. Overall pretty fast and good customer service, although a guy who came out back to clean part of the outdoor space (seemed like he could be the manager/owner) had a pretty rough attitude. Thought he was joking with us about a previous family’s mess but we realized he was real angry. Everyone has tough days, but sometimes those situations that aren’t a big deal make you wonder if he’ll say something to the next group about your family 🙃. Anyway, great spot!

One of our favorite places to get ice cream while up north! We love the soft serve.

Came after a long day at a mixer for a book series me and my wife enjoy. We ordered a 1/4lb cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, and pickles a large fry and a chicken tender box. We didnt realize they were cash only so I had to run to my car. 2-3 minute round trip. My wife then informs me later that while I was gone the lady took the next person's order and told them I had to go get cash in a rude tone. But that's all fine until the next part. They didnt start cooking my food for 12-18 minutes. They waited until they had no more people ordering even though the one who took my order wasn't even taking orders anymore she was stocking random stuff. Then when the line was gone she goes and starts cooking. Just to cook a burger for someone who order 15 minutes after I had. When I eventually got my food it had been almost 30 minutes from the time I ordered. If you are skeptical on how I knew they didnt start cooking until the line was gone. There were 4 girls working and I seen them the entire time and never did one step behind the island to cook until the line was gone. Even when some had nothing to do. And I then smelled the food cooking as well. Just to serve someone who ordered way after me first. I paid $21.50 and gave a $3.50 tip (before I knew about the rude comment). Just to be targeted and wait 30 minutes for a burger fries and some tenders. Way overpriced staff is rude and gives people dirty looks and clearly dont care about the customers. I will never come here again. It seems like unless you only order ice cream then you are just a hassle to these people.

Edit from a five star review to a two star review.
Last time we ate at Dairy Grill, I bit down into something hard in my black bean burger and cracked one of my bottom right molars. I had to have an emergency filling done on it in Petoskey and will have to have a crown put on it when we get back home to Texas. I called and spoke to Terry, the owner about it. This is going to cost me close to $2,000 to get my tooth completely fixed. Terry didn’t really seem to care. At first I wanted him to check with his insurance to see if he would be able to help me out, then I texted him back and said that I had changed my mind and that I would take care of the cost myself. Terry never responded. This has been a huge ordeal for me. I’ve never had any teeth issues other than a cavity or two over the years. We loved eating here and I am so sad that we won’t be eating here anymore.
I love the black bean burger and my hubby loves the half pound burger. We also enjoy the onion rings, cheese curds and of course Ashby’s ice cream. Everything is always fresh and delicious and we always eat here when we are visiting all the way from Texas!
