It took a long time to be able to put in our order (just two tastings). We tried 6 wines between 2 of us and unfortunately neither of us liked any of them.
Had an AMAZING experience at Lost Cellars!!
Melissa did an AWESOME JOB of describing the wines and helping us pick out our selections. Will definitely be back next year on our “Tour of Michigan Wineries 2026” !!
Very happy that we stopped by !!
Melissa, THANK YOU, for all your help, smiles, and for making our wine journey wonderful!!

Stopped here on a whim while visiting the area and there are so many great things to say about this place! The owner and staff are especially friendly and outstanding, and they truly made our experience a 5/5. They kept asking what we thought about the wine, chatting about the best local spots, and genuinely wanted to get to know us. The food looked great, and the wine was outstanding! I would recommend this place over and over again, and we will be back soon.
Such a cute little place, very cozy and inviting. Great wines, spirits, and food options. My fiancé and I stopped on a Sunday afternoon and had the whole place to ourselves, and got to watch the Lions game. The person working was super friendly and informative. They also have house made gelato that you can get with or without booze added!
Excellent spirits — the mini cocktail flight is a great touch! The dry Riesling was one of our favorites, but the Merlot was a little too light bodied for our taste. The staff’s passion for the wine made the experience even more enjoyable. We also loved the updated outdoor patio (they had just finished it and opened it up for us), and the garage doors make the indoor space just as breezy on a nice day.
Nice tasting room with great service.
We had kids with us and they provided games and soft drinks while the adults sampled the wine.
Great afternoon.
This place is one of our favorite local spots. The owners are often there working hard and chatting with their customers. Hands down the BEST pizza we have all ever had (party of 3). They have incredible gelato drinks and good wine and cocktails. Thanks Jay & Lora for creating and working hard in such a magical spot. They also have a short term rental available on their property and you can book the winery for private events.
While planning a cousins camping trip to Northern Michigan a tour to Beaver Island was top on our list. With a 45 foot class A campsites are limited. We used our Harvest host to find a place for 3 days.
This was how we found this hidden jewel winery Lost Cellars.
The pizza alone is worth the trip even for non alcoholic drinkers like us. The entertainment on Friday was wonderful too. We have had a really hot summer in Michigan this year so not complaining.
We did end up using our generator the whole time nonstop. It wasn't an issue here however. They have the spacious campsites far enough away that it doesn't interfere with their tasting room and area.
The owners and staff are all gracious hosts, the family story regarding the name is both sad and yet rewarding.
We personally plan to visit them again and look forward to our next visit.
We took advantage of their Harvest host for 3 days to explore the area. They get 10 stars from us for hospitality, wines, music and entertainment. Their pizza is amazing and the spinach artichoke dip wonderful. What a great place to stay and enjoy your evenings while exploring Charlivoix, beaver island and Petosky. It is very close to Fisherman's Island state park. With a 45 foot tag axel this was actually the only place we found close by for our Beaver Island tour. The owner even found us a great lady Melissa who also works for her to dog sit for us while we went on our tour. This was so helpful since we were gone 13 hours. Melissa was amazing with our Cooper and even sent us text messages and photos to ensure us he was belong well cared for. So even if you are just traveling the area or are local etc. I highly recommend you stop by and support the local business.
Lost Cellars by Charlevoix, Michigan, is a true gem in Northern Michigan’s wine scene, offering a delightful blend of small-batch wines, inventive spirits, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. From the moment you step onto the 13-acre property, you’re surrounded by natural beauty and a sense of creative energy that sets the tone for an unforgettable visit.
The tasting room strikes a perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort, making it a welcoming spot to unwind. What really stands out is the passion and hospitality of owners Jay and Lora Higdon, who have poured their hearts into crafting unique wines and spirits that reflect the local terroir. Their selection features everything from crisp dry Rieslings to bold reds like Marquette and French-inspired Malbec, as well as sparkling rosés and even a sparkling Gruner Veltliner—something for every palate.
Beyond wine, Lost Cellars has become a destination for craft spirits, with their Rebar Stillworks distillery producing smooth vodkas, brandy, rum, and more, all made from grapes grown on the estate. The tasting experience is enhanced by delicious artisan pizzas, charcuterie boards, and other light bites, all made with fresh, local ingredients.
The winery also hosts a variety of events, from live music nights to themed gatherings, and offers unique accommodations like the Chalet on the Vines, a cozy vacation rental right on the property. 5 Stars
We absolutely loved our visit to Lost Cellars in Charlevoix! From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home — and the hospitality extended to our furry friend, Archie, too! The rustic charm of the space is absolutely delightful, and the experience was truly one-of-a-kind.
We tried their cocktail sampler featuring gin, orangecello, and dark rum-based drinks — all were fantastic, but the dark rum really stole the show (we ended up buying a bottle to take home!). The charcuterie board was delicious and thoughtfully curated. And the sweetest touch? The hosts surprised Archie with his very own “barkuterie” board — such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture!
To top it all off, we tried their affogato with a twist — made with a splash of their dark rum — and it was absolutely amazing. Rich, boozy, and indulgent in the best way.
The hosts were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. Lost Cellars is an absolute gem and a must-visit when you’re in Charlevoix!
We had a great time here! It’s so cute and cozy
Stunning vineyard with new tasting room and large outside patio. Staff very knowledgeable about the wine and spirits options. One of the most unique gin’s we have had! Owner came around to check on us and tell a bit about the Lost Cellars name and his journey in the wine industry. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend. 10/10
