The sidewalk sign sucked us in down the beautiful alleyway to the Cantina. This restaurant was excellent, hands down the best place for good quality Mexican cuisine here in Northern Michigan. We got the nachos ( they were to die for, we asked for added jalapenos ) and also got the chicken quesadilla, very tasty as well. We will go back! We were on our motorcycle and it was threatening rain so we asked to get our stuff to go after ordering, the server was quick to act and got our stuff ready for us very fast. Even eating it in to go containers it was delicious and packed with flavor.

We each got a taco and the shells were not cooked. The margaritas were excellent but don't try the tacos

First visit to this place. Very nice patio. The server was very busy, but we weren’t in a rush. The margaritas were good as was the nacho sampler. However, the tacos were marginal and the quesadilla was so greasy and there was so much cheese it was overflowing and almost burned. They didn’t look anything like the pictures others have shared. I never thought I’d complain about too much cheese. I couldn’t even finish 1/4 of the large quesadilla and had no desire to take it home.

I absolutely love this town. Visit every year. This was my first visit to The Cantina. I always travel with my dog, and this cute restaurant has beautiful outdoor seating that allows our furry friends. The food is absolutely delicious. The server, Frank The Great, was so top-notch. Hands down a great time. A+ for me at The Cantina!

Very disappointing, food was bland tasting, margaritas were bitter tasting and very small and expensive, burrito had no flavor, service was prompt and place was clean, but I don't recommend

Stumbled upon this gem on my birthday and SO HAPPY we did! Highly recommend the Sweet Potato Taco and chips with Guacamole.

Sat there last night - food was good - nate the waiter is awesome but I watched the bartender verbally assault three customers who asked for their drinks to be remade.
Honestly never seen a situation escalate so wildly. Maybe something to do with the moon.

Great tacos, great palomas, great vibe, and Nathaniel the Great has to be hands-down the best waiter in Charlevoix
So yummy! The potato taco was delish and Nathaniel was the friendliest waiter I’ve ever had!
Restaurantji Recommends
The food was remarkably bad, everything was either bland, or inedibly salty (actually!). Staff was friendly

Service and atmosphere are great, food was lousy, would not recommend if you are hungry, and would not return
Great food, nice patio and the tacos were excellent. The carnitas taco in particular was my favorite.

I’m sad to give this place such a low star review because the waiter and host were so kind. I was initially excited about the menu. But my whole family was dissatisfied with the execution of the meals. To start, the food didn’t always match the description on the menu, but worse, it lacked flavor and proper cooking. The rice was burnt /crispy. The chips were soft. The salsas needed salt. The burritos were mostly raw cabbage. The churros were burnt.
We were so disappointed, that for the rest of our stay in the area, we only ate at franchise fast food to avoid another total upset like this. I hope the owner understands my review is of good intentions. I think this place has a lot of potential. It just needs some help in the kitchen.

Drove 30 minutes and a $10 ferry ride for dinner at 6pm on a Tuesday when website says you are open. Get it together! Waste of time.
