Good food and great service. I wished it had more outdoor seating space as the inside can be a bit cramped and loud with customers. Get their Mac and cheese. It's one of a kind.

Seems like we always make our way to Clarkston and the Union every trip to Detroit even though it's gotta be 30/40 minutes out of the city.We flew into Detroit for a family visit last week and went to The Union on our way to family house. The food is always lights out and that day was no different! Chicken noodle soup was outrageous. Of course we got the famous Mac n Cheese, two orders actually as one was for us and. The other to take along to the house and share. The surprise winner though was the homemade meatloaf! Maybe the best I've ever had, top 2 at the very least. Thanks for the great meal and see y'all next time.

The go to for the best mac and cheese but make sure to add pulled pork. It's so delicious. When my cousin who is gluten free visits she always wants to stop in for their gluten free mac and cheese. Service was a little delayed and didn't visit us as much as we would've liked but could've been worse. I like they repurposed a church and made it a cool place to eat and get some drinks. Always lots of beer and drinks to choose from.

Place is great. Look awesome. Mac & cheese was ok. Pot pie I think it need more veggies but that just me but it was good. Drink was yummy (ginger beer). "Mac sauce" is yummy. Server was awesome and friendly. Got sat down quickly. Was a good place I'd go again.

i have always enjoyed my dining experience at the union, however, the wait time for seating and service can be improved. as always, the mac and cheese with lobster was a fan favorite and i thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and apple salad (a special). the dressing was perfect! of course the ambience is inviting and lots for your eyes to look at while enjoying some delicious eats. good job guys! check them out - huge list of beers as well!

The food was delicious although it's a little loud inside. The staff was super friendly and service didn't take too long. I love this restaurant although I did learn my parents made out at a corner of this restaurant.

We dropped in for an early dinner! Service was friendly and efficient. Overall a great selection on tap. We had the portobello caprese and backyard burger! No complaints. I'll be back..

Changed the menu and not in a good way. We have been eating here since it opened. The Mac and cheese is still good, but it's getting ridiculously expensive. They have removed the dinner options allowing you to pick your sides and now you receive a piece of bread, slaw and pickles. Pretty disappointing and we will unlikely go back.

Solid BBQ joint.Came on a Thurs night around 8PM and were able to get seated right away at a high top in the bar area. The place was about half full and there was plenty of seating for large groups. They had some decent brews on tap including Three Floyds Barbarian Haze.My bride went with the salmon ($25) and enjoyed it. I ordered the half pound of pulled pork ($14) and it was good - liked the mustard style sauce as it had good flavor. Both our our entrees came with a small cup of slaw and pickles (they were good). It seemed to take quite awhile for the food to come out. Not sure if they were short staffed in the kitchen or not.Service from our bartender Thoth was super friendly.

Went to celebrate A birthday and Cinco de Mayo. Not the place for this but Honcho's was booked. The appetizer corn chip and Salsa was ok. The salsa gets a 10. The broken to smithereens corn chips gets a Minus 2. Had our waitress paid a little closer attention and came right back , They We would of, I would of sent them back. They got eaten any way as the kids devoured them and we picked through to find a few that could hold salsa. Off to a bad start. Salsa is extra too for $3 but a lot of restaurants do that and theres was worth it.Sandwiches such as the Jalepeno pulled pork had maybe 3 large teaspoons of meat. Not much for $16.95 each.My Union Reuben of corn beef was (3) sliced lunch meat and tasted like it too $17.75 not worth the trouble. We order a pizza with cheese for one of the kids who would not eat it. Theres a hint.Kids chicken nuggets got devoured by the other child. We ordered 4 margaritas for $40 bucks and salt on the rim must be extra as we git none. No waitress again. There was good tequila in there though. The veggie portobello caprese I heard was very good! The roasted potatoes were bland. Period. The Potatoe salad was excellent. Service by Anna was a 3, We tip 20% regardless of service. Those waitresses have to put up with a lot.I know Mc Donalds is expensive but to lay out $200 for 4 adults and 2 kids makes the value of this place less appealing then a Happy meal. Too many better places along the block and the city I might add, than to go back here.

Went with a large group and we all ordered something different. Everything was so good. The Union always knocks it out of the park so you can't go wrong with any choice. We tried all sides as well and every single one is a slap-in-the-face flavor! The top for me is Mac and Cheese, then collards, then baked beans. Great beer selection. Cool place to hang at the bar or sit and eat- large groups or small.

Food (esp pulled pork) is delicious! Have a few different styles of bbq sauces which are awesome as well (my favorites the Bama and Korean). Decor is eclectic and complements the vibe perfectly. Upstairs bar is also really cool if you want to grab a drink while you're waiting.Little pricey for bbq but for the MI area you can't go wrong with Union!

Stopped in for some food while in the area. I DON'T KNOW if it was the post skiing hunger or this place was actually just that amazing. Restaurant is more casual - I was able to wear a baseball cap and sweatshirt and still fit in. The smell walking in is amazing. You know just from the smell that the food will be good. The price is pretty good for the amount of food you receive and the service is prompt and extremely friendly. The small salad was enough for one person as a meal in my opinion. This place was sooo good I will be making the drive to go back in the near future.

Unfortunately, I feel like this place is overrated. I had the Roasted Turkey sandwich on a baguette. The baguette was so hard I couldn't even bite it without fear of cracking a tooth. I ended up eating it like a salad. I also ordered the broccoli cheese soup which was very greasy, it started to separate. My husband had the sausage trio with the Mac N Cheese which he said was disappointing and overpriced. The Mac N Cheese seemed oily. Two stars for a cool atmosphere but we came here many years ago and the menu seems to be the exact same.

This could have easily been a five-star had it not been for some glitches. Actually, the glitches were pretty significant, but the food was SO delicious that even then, I would still rate it high. I have never been to Clarkston before, but visiting near Christmas is recommended because the street looks cute and festive. Anyway, the place was BUSY with more than 45 minutes wait time. The good thing is they have a bar and waiting room upstairs, so you can stay warm and have some drinks while waiting. Feel free also to leave your name and walk around. They will text you once your table is ready.Everything on the menu looks so good, but I recommend Woodshop 101, so you can get a little bit of everything. You will have three cuts of meat -- dark meat or white meat chicken, brisket or pulled pork or hot-links, and two pieces of either back ribs or spare ribs. You also got two sides. I chose dark meat chicken, brisket, and spare ribs with baked beans and collard greens for the sides. We also ordered fried pickles to share. The fried pickles were AWESOME. It was incredibly crispy. The batter was delicious and flavorful. It went super well with the sauce on the side. I was sold! But then afterward, the glitches began. The food took 1 hour to come out. Our server was excellent, though. I'm sure he felt horrible. He kept showing up at our table, apologizing, and I felt so bad for him because I was sure it was not his fault. He was SO nice. Finally, after the long wait, the food showed up. They looked glorious. Except I was bummed that they don't have the cornbread. When I asked, they said they had run out. Moreover, they gave the wrong sides to my friend. She ordered fries and collard greens but got sweet potato and mac 'n cheese instead. They let us keep those two additional sides, which were DELICIOUS, and brought us tons of fries. It turned out they ran out of collard greens too. Mine was one of the last ones, then. Had it not been for our server's friendliness and the delicious food, it would have been quite a bummer. However, the fact that despite all that, I'm still very inclined to give them high ratings speaks for the quality of the food and the excellency of the service. Nevertheless, when I return, I hope it will be a better experience... plus, hope to have he corn bread too
