Nicole was warm and welcoming, Winston and Penelope and their sidekick were as well, breakfast sandwiches and cappuccino in the morning were just what we needed to start the day. They weren’t open for dinner the night we were there but the Shipwreck in town was equally welcoming as if we had been coming there for years. Warmth brings warmth.
First, let me preface that I was very excited about this meal with it being our first "real" meal in days.
I am not sure if our visit was an anomaly, but things started off well with our table already set upon arrival.
Unfortunately, the food was a bit underwhelming though. We started with the charcuterie board, which I will say was an A+ for everyone at the table (hence the 3 stars and not less).
However, the meal went downhill from there. We had the Tuscan Shrimp and Coconut Shrimp (as an entree). The Tuscan Shrimp was OK, and the Coconut Shrimp was not what was expected in a poor way. In both dishes, the shrimp was so crispy that the tails were hard to bite off.
After spending over $100 on the meal, we walked away less than satisfied.
Went for dinner on Friday night. It was so disappointing. I have been going to Chamberlin’s since 1995…I lived in McMillian and ate there for many occasions. You have made what was a 5 star to a 1 star. This is no longer “Chamberlin’s”. The owner definitely needs to rename the place. I couldn’t believe a worker actually swept
the carpet with a broom right
behind our table…
DISGUSTING!!! Food was cold
and very mediocre for the price I paid…which by the way, I was
overcharged!!! Waitress didn’t
even act like she wanted to be
there. Noise level was higher than it would have been if things had been left on the walls, etc. Too many issues to mention. Since my visit there I have shared my experience and find everyone has had similar experiences. OWNER: Find your own way to make people want to come back OR go back to what worked for BUD. I’m pretty sure you won’t care, but my friends and I will NEVER return.

Don't pay attention to any bad reviews of the food! It was the most amazing food I have had in a long time! The cook is amazing and the new hours with reservations has resolved the problem of long waits. We did not have to wait any longer than any other restaurants. We stayed 2 nights. Place was clean and has a friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed the bonfire, the lake view, the porch, the gazebo, and coffee available all day with some snacks was a plus!
Breathtaking oasis. The view, the rooms, the hospitality is top notch! Michelle, the cook should have her own cooking show! Her creations are amazing!!! Make your dinner reservations now! The staff is wonderful! Everyone is so friendly! 5000+ stars!!!

4th visit to this historic inn. Apparently the original owners have sold it. The two days we were there the new owner was absent. We were basically on our own except for breakfast. It felt strange.

Let’s start with the 1st thing, we tried to order 2 Bud Lights, they don’t carry it, offered us crappy Busch Light instead, yuck, so no drinks with dinner. Good luck reading the menu, between the lighting being bad and the printing, super difficult. Options for people with food allergies/intolerance are super limited. My bf could order the ONLY steak on the menu, that’s it. Be prepared for tiniest loaf of bread ever and for some reason, they stick a wick in your butter so you can experience the taste of burnt candle wax on your bread. Food was edible but not worth the cost.

We had to cancel our reservation last moment due to a family emergency. I had called multiple times to cancel reservation but nobody picked up the call, always went to voicemail, even wrote an email.
I requested a refund or credit towards a future stay with them. I know there is a cancellation policy in place but I was hoping the situation was handled a bit better. All they did was send an automated cancellation email.
My family is old time friends with Bud and Kelly (old owners) and I have been going here since I was born, it's always been the most beautiful and delicious place in the world to me.
I just visited home and made the trip to my favorite restaurant in the world for my 30th birthday just to be so massively disappointed I don't think my heart could ever let me return. Even the whitefish and potatoes were terrible- the whitefish was dry and chewy like jerky and idk what they put in the potatoes. Even the bread and butter was bad and a strange concept with candles and they ran out for other tables. They changed the raspberry chicken to a frozen processed breaded patty AND raised the price. Don't even get me started on the brie... It's a joke to put these once great dishes on your menu then take away everything that was great about them. A sick joke.
I saw our server crying from frustration over being forced to use a broken POS system instead of pen and paper for orders and someone's didn't get to the kitchen. It took us 35 minutes to have our drink order taken and half of them were wrong. All of the staff seemed incredibly stressed and unhappy.
We knew it was going to be bad when our favorite bar tender was fired for standing up for other staff and they were all told that the new owners don't care about the locals. It's hard to feel bad when you didn't listen to anyone who's love made Chamberlin's what it was. You don't have a staffing issue you just had no business buying a locals-driven place just to take away everything that the locals loved. You deserve every bad day that you're having. You could change anytime and actually start listening but you've chosen not to. Shame on you.
Enjoyed the stay.on the lake in the woods..Owner is wonderful...

We stayed for an extended weekend. The staff are super friendly, from the bartenders to the waitstaff, and especially the manager. The rooms are comfy and spacious. The bar drinks are innovative, and delicious, and the food is excellent. We got to pet the petite goat, (her name is Penelope), and there is a friendly giant of a dog who loves people. We will definitely be back! - Teresa and Dean Saigeon
