Social Oak Chophouse & Wine Bar

It is super rare that I give bad reviews. I understand that life happens. Tonight my wife and I drove an hour to come here for our birthday dinner. Hers was last week my is next week. upon arrival we were met with a packed restaurant. however we were the only ones waiting. we decided to have a dinner on the deck. While we were waiting they brought out the papers and we got the first one. The place was filling up. We helped ourselves to the bar while we waited. after we got half way through our drinks, a couple showed up next to us and ordered a drink. we then after a 45 minute wait got another drink. we were having a great time. T he couple that came in 20 minutes after us had their pager go off and were led outside to a deck table. I was a little concerned as we got the first pager of the night. When we asked what happened, we were told by the waitress that the lady in the other party yelled at them and insisted they be seated before us. I asked to speak to a manager and while he was very nice, the best answer he had was we open at 11am tomorrow. Bro, I drove an hour because we had heard good stuff. I am sad that people are so out of touch with being nice that they don't care about others feelings. As a First Responder, I put everyone before me. I wish the restaurant the best and I sure wish I could have enjoyed a birthday dinner with my wife.

It was horrible.. we got there and we got sat immediately but we got our waters… never heard anything else from servers.

Worst part is that we saw other tables getting served with regular drinks and other orders.

THIS WAS HORRIBLE!!

We just left the place it was so bad.

Atmosphere is quiet and dimly lit, nice views of Lake Huron and a surprisingly diverse menu. The Walleye bites were melt in your mouth, but the Maryland Style crab cakes are not Maryland style as in they are not broiled they are fried, good flavor but Maryland style just know what you are ordering. The Parmesan fries are flour fries with very light truffle oil and dashed with grated Parmesan, not very good, could have used more of everything and maybe some parsley...

Everything was so tasty!!! The French onion soup is unreal! The coconut shrimp is so fresh! Loved it all!! The view was beautiful!

What a great find! We had the Walleye appetizer, the Lamb Chops, a Caeser Salad and the Ahi Tuna Burger. Oh, and I asked chef to send me a Shrimp Patty on the side just to try it and that to was very good. Dinner was delicious. The Lamb Chops were seasoned and cooked to perfection and the Ahi Tuna Burger was divine. The staff were Johnny on the spot quick and the atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for.

we hadn’t been back in over a year because the last time it wasn’t that great. i was happy to find that things had greatly improved. The lamb chop appetizer was great. Perch was excellent and so was my chicken crusted salad

Husband and I have eaten at Social Oak twice within the last month or so. We usually get appetizers and dinner when we go out to eat. On our first visit, we ordered the lamb chops and sliders appetizers and each of us ordered steaks. From beginning to end, the meal was excellent and the (red)wine selection was great, too. The meats were all very tender and tasty. We returned a 2nd time and ate all seafood, which was also very good. We ordered the crab cakes and walleye bite appetizers, which were both awesome. However, I wouldn't order them both at the same time again because they have the same sauce. Still, we enjoyed both very much and would order each on its own. We each ordered different fish entrees (blackened grouper, forgot what husband had), which were very good and the (white this time) wine selection was again, very good.

We sat at the bar both times and the service was very good. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere inside is open and pleasant and of course the bay view just can't be beat. We will definitely be back!

We found the Social Oak when we were coming from downstate to Hubbard Lake. Now that we’re permanent at Hubbard Lake this is one of our faves. Great food, wonderful menu, small and cozy, and don’t forget to visit the secret “ Library”, in the basement! Thank you Social Oak for offering a great place to get Seafood!

Had an awesome time. Staff were excellent we had wine, apps and ahi tuna tacos. All fantastic. Sit at the bar everyone is happy and having a good time. Can’t wait to go back!

We live in Oscoda and I can honestly say that I’ve tried just about every restaurant within 50-60 miles of us over the years. Social Oak is consistently the best, hands down. The menu changes a little every now and then to keep it interesting, and I haven’t ordered something I didn’t love yet. Great service, stunning views of Lake Huron (on the shore!), and the food is spectacular. We’ve visited several times and I can’t wait to go again!
