A Matter Of Taste at Tapawingo

This venue is absolutely beautiful. But the prep for the wedding was done an hour before guests were showing up. The staff was under staffed until dinner time. Some guests had to move chairs from the ceremony area to the tent so they could sit at the tables. Dinner was yummy but the food was taken away after about 30 minutes and some guests were still hungry, as there were many pans of food left uneaten. We had a wonderful time getting ready in the bridal suite but there was no fridge for bridal drinks. The most disappointing point was the set up. No linens. No cake display table outside under the tent where all guest were. Also the bride the previous day had asked for a unity table to be down at the ceremony area and that was not set up. They did not get to perform that part of their ceremony...sad enough i love the beautiful grounds but not worth 10 grand....

Wedding Catering: Gregg & Ginny over delivered on so many levels! First we visited them to possibly have our wedding on site but ended up going with another location (it was a tough choice between the two, their Location is BEAUTIFUL!-Right on the lake!!) Regardless, we enjoyed Gregg & Ginny's company so much that we just had to have them involved in our wedding in one way or the other! So, we finally decided to have them cater our wedding and I am so glad we did! My husband and I lived out of state so we were unable to do a tasting before the wedding. We were slightly worried about this BUT we were put at ease when we sat down to eat. The food tasted AMAZING (the presentation was beautiful as well)! Greg & Ginnys team was able to roll with some last minute changes as well like adding fruits and veggies as appetizers & platting the bride, groom, best man and maid of honors food! When we get back to Michigan we will definitely be paying Gregg & Ginny a visit and trying some of their other delicious food! Also, check out the other activities they offer on location! Such a fun place with wonderful owners!

Ginny and Gregg are incredible people! From day one they treated my Fiancé and I like family. The venue, staff, food, etc, was absolutely incredible. The both of them went above and beyond for us and all of our guests! Thank you both so much for all you did! Ginny and Gregg are incredible. They are kind, engaging, and so so talented at what they do. We utilized them for a reception venue as well as our caterer and everything was insanely perfect. They are very relaxed and laid back and you can certainly see why. They know their property, this business, and the ins and outs of every little detail. They are so experienced that it literally took away all of the stress of the wedding. Not to mention the food is incredible! Everything is locally sourced and fresh and you can certainly tell. Also, the property alone is stunning!!! This is such a gem and I had so many people ask how we found it! Do not let this place pass you by, I would work with Ginny and Gregg over and over again!

My husband and I just recently had our wedding at A Matter of Taste, July 3rd 2021. The venue was absolutely magical, it had romantic, whimsical, French country vibes. ? The food was absolutely delicious. It was such a pleasure to work with Ginny and Gregg. Meeting and working with them was like working with family. It was a challenge planning a wedding during a pandemic but they made it go seamlessly. The fireworks at the end topped off a beautiful day and ceremony. ? Thanks again, The Daniels

If you're looking for a wedding caterer in Northern Michigan look no further. Ginny and her team catered our Hotel Walloon wedding last month and we are so pleased with everything. The service was efficient, the food was warm and delicious and the staff did a phenomenal job overall. We were able to get a tasting prior to making the commitment which I found to be very comforting. Wonderful food at a perfect setting on St. Claire Lake in Ellsworth. Thursday night dinners in the summer are a treat. The preset menu changes week-to-week, the value is terrific and the service is warm and personal. Greg and Ginny are kind and thoughtful. We had our wedding and reception there in October. The staff managed all the Covid requirements, delivered a spectacular meal and helped to make our special fun for all and a truly memorable event. Highly recommend

Where should I begin! When we originally scheduled our wedding for 10/10/2020 prior to the unforeseen Covid-19 pandemic, we were quite at ease with the plans laid out for our wedding. Throughout the uncertainty of whether or not we would get to have our wedding at all, Ginny & Greg (the owners) were in constant communication with us throughout the entire process, going out of their way on several occasions to make arrangements for us that best suited our needs and made us feel assured that we would still get to have the wedding day we had been planning for over a year. When it came time for our wedding day, they delivered with tremendous service and even better food. We could not have asked for a better wedding day, or a more pristine venue to have all of our friends and family at! It truly was the best day of our lives and a large part of that was because of Matter of Taste. Thank you Greg and Ginny again for everything you did for us, and we look forward to coming back to visit for years to come.

The food was very good. Not awesome, but very good. The setting is beautiful. My reason for only 4 stars is portion size. Only 2 small pieces of sushi for the first course. The salmon entree contained a very nicely cooked piece of salmon and fresh veggies but it was probably only about 2oz of salmon. For the price there should have been another piece of sushi and at least 4 oz of salmon.

We got married at Tapawingo back in 2018, and we loved everything about it. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. Whether your wedding is inside or outside, it will be beautiful. The staff was also incredibly gracious and made my day stress free. Ginny was especially helpful and accommodating. Thank you so much for making our wedding day amazing!!!
