La-Chica-Negra

Ate here twice on our recent trip to Escanaba. By myself for a quick bite and later for a quick lunch with my wife. First trip I just had a Chicago dog. It was made perfectly with all the required ingredients, very tasty and hit the spot. Second trip my wife tried the Chicago Dog. I had a Coney dog and we split some Crack Fries. She liked the Chicago dog. The coney dog was good, lots of chili and onions. The coney sauce isn’t quite like the authentic sauces I’ve had in Brooklyn or a few other places but still a quality dog. The crack fries were quite good. They’re like thin American fries cooked crispier with a mix of seasonings. It’s a small place with limited inside dining. Looks like their renovating the back to add some extra outdoor seating. It’s a cool place with a menu of basic fare consisting of sandwiches, hotdogs, fried apps and a few salads. Pretty good for a typical family, kids will like to eat here.

I ordered the pastrami sandwich on-line. It was ready when I got there 10 minutes later. When I got back to work and opened the sandwich, I found simply a roast beef sandwich. It was Obviously not pastrami, and had they told me they were OUT of pastrami, I would have gladly ordered something else. The beef was shredded and dried out and even the melted cheese could not rescue the sandwich. My advice, look at your order before you leave.
