Typical Kerby's menu, but the air conditioning was not working on the hot day we visited. The waitress was clearly frustrated by this fact. Evidently, the owner refuses to fix or replace the unit.

Tenant Complaints

Came in with my family (5 people) expecting to dine in while it was scorching hot outside (over 90°). Enter the doors and was kindly greeted by both servers tonight and we were seated promptly. We had placed our orders, and were waiting for our food. We ended up paying for our food and leaving without eating or taking the food with us as it was hotter inside than it was outside (can't imagine that it was safe for the cook or the waitress to have been working under these conditions). We have been coming every summer for years and each summer it is like this. Get the air fixed before someone has a heat stroke. Will not be returning to this location until it either cools down or the air is fixed.

My husband was on the phone ordering carry out the girl was taking the order and as soon as he completed telling her the order another woman came on the phone said that they don't take carryout over the phone because they close in 30 minutes if I wanted carryout I'd have to come in to order it then I had to wait for 25 minutes for my food but tell me why when I was waiting for my carry out the phone rang and a man came in and picked up a Coney dog and Fry's and my order was simple eggs and toast and Ruben so ridiculous.

Usually really like this place but they have got to put a sign on the door and just close the place when they don't have working air conditioning. If it wasn't for my patient wife we'd have left when we walked in . The servers and cooks looked absolutely miserable, but did their best . Owners, please be more considerate of your staff and customers in the future.

Terrible service. Stephanie was horrible. Lost my order and never brought it to the table even after all other three people were served. 45 min wait still no food.

Good hamburger but I was kind of disappointed in the chili... Very bland... not a lot of chili flavor. Chili fries tasted almost like regular fries

We ordered the breakfast special, which was advertised as $6.99 but they charged a dollar extra for the eggs. The waitress was very friendly and kept refilling our coffee.

Ordered a tuna pita. It was dripping wet and had a strong fishy flavor. 15 minutes after eating 1/3 of it I got deathly ill. Also the service was terrible and after 10 minutes I had to go to the front and ask for my bill. Never again!

Typical Coney Island, dependable food. Not the biggest portions. Got into a discussion how I could only have 2 ketchup packets or she would have to charge me... ridiculous, Ranch or Gyro sauce I could understand but 1 more ketchup pack wouldn't kill them. Which is funny, last few times I didn't even get syrup with my pancakes!

I ordered a veggie omelette and the tomatoes were spoiled. The manager refused to make another omelette. Instead he ordered me 10% off the cost of the omelette. He said the tomato was just cut this morning. The tomato was still spoiled regardless what time it was cut. I will never go to this restaurant again!!!!!!

Long time customer here (15+ years) ... I used to love this place, but this encapsulates my last three visits over the past few weeks:

The first two times - Excellent service, but was treated to a scene of servers loudly voicing their need for breaks; it made for a tense vibe both times.

Today - I strolled in around 3pm (after trying to place a carryout order but was left on hold so long, I figured, "Hey, why not dine in and enjoy the ambiance?"). There were exactly three tables occupied - not exactly rush hour. The lone server told me it would be "just two or three minutes," which sounded reasonable. I mean, everyone needs a moment to gather their thoughts, right?

One table departed, so now it was just me and two other tables. Then, the server swooped by, SLAMMED down a roll of cutlery like she was dropping the mic after a stand-up routine, and wordlessly glided off to chit-chat with the other guests before retreating to her natural habitat behind the counter.

And there she stayed. For ten minutes.

I waited for thirteen minutes, staring at my abandoned silverware like it was a breakup scene in a rom-com. Finally, on my way out, I caught her eye. She gave a shrug and said, "Sorry, I’m the only waitress."

I couldn’t help myself. "You’ve got two tables. This is taking way too long."

I hope management is able to turn things around.

Food was Coney food. The service was garbage. As a former server I give a lot of grace. First my MIL ordered her food with no tomatoes, it had tomatoes. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and blamed it on the cook but she also forgot the ranch I asked for when I ordered and took quite a while to bring it. Also not a huge deal if she was busy, but it was not even close to busy. She never came back to check on us. I had to go out of my way to get her attention to get boxes and our bill because she was buried in her phone. Had our food been wrong, bad, etc we would have had to chase her down. Don't intend to go back anytime soon.
