We live 4 hours away and whenever we come downstate, this is our first stop! The 5 pepper chicken is our favorite, but everything is fantastic! It’s a beautiful place and the service is always top notch!! So delicious! We are never disappointed!!

More like 2.5 stars. Came here today for dinner and ordered eggrolls, hot and sour soup, shrimp lo mein, sechuan beef, and almond chicken. Hot and sour soup and beef dish were the more flavorful of the bunch but almost everything had no flavor at all. The Lo mein had maybe 13 noodles in total and the rest was veggies and didn't taste like anything. As a matter of fact, the ABC was tons of veggies and normally there's none in that dish so that was interesting. Chicken FELT undercooked on my first bite so I didn't touch it again. Lots of veggies in all dishes as well as good quality of beef and shrimp. Price point was high for subpar Chinese food though. Atmosphere and service were great but I wouldn't return.

Excellent Chinese Restaurant. Beautifully remodeled three years ago. My son and I shared dinner for two from the menu. It included a large bowl of at least two servings each of sizzle rice soup followed by a large appetizer plate of egg roll and crispy Rangoon then two large entrees of chicken and green beans and spicy beef in a black bean and onion sauce. The entrees came hot with green beans that were fresh and firm and meat that was well seasoned and tender. The dinner ended with traditional fortune cookies that correctly predicted that we would be back again. Forgot to say the cost was just $33.00 plus tax and tip for the two of us.

I've eaten or had take-out here about 5-6 times. Owner is there to make sure everything runs smoothly. Food is consistently good. Wait staff is very polite and accommodating. Owner is very welcoming.

I forgot how much I liked this place. It's. It quite nearby. So we don't come over this way often. But since we were nearby, I figured we'd stop by. And it was very good. The seafood soup was filled with veggies. And the entree was Mongolian trio and had a lot of delicious protein and also a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. Overall enjoyed the meal a lot. And the service was very good too.

When I was pregnant with my oldest, 25 years ago, I had some bad Chinese food and that was it, I swore it off, much to my husbands chagrin. We did find a place eventually but I was far from adventurous and my usual order of chicken friend rice and wanton soup seems to go down in quality and up in grease the last few times we got take out, so when the craving for Chinese food hit, I did a Yelp search that led us to New Mandarin Garden. Do not let the location or the sketchy parking lot detour you, the place was surprisingly nice. Updated décor lends to an intimate dining experience and the table of full of elder Chinese couples lent a legitimacy to the cuisine. The food was excellent. I got the wanton soup, sesame chicken with chicken fried rice and my husband got the Empress shrimp and shrimp fried rice. Service was good but I think we could have gotten a little more input about what we were ordering. The fried rice was not just an upcharge, it was a whole separate item and large enough to share. The portions were not gigantic but I did have enough to take home a whole other meal. Subsequently the price was a little shocking, almost $80 before tip just for the two of us. This did include cocktails. A great place for date night and a nice change from Chinese take out. I look forward to returning in the future.

I'm guessing he was the owner, but from the moment we walked in until the end, he was incredibly kind. He wrote our name down for a table and remembered it when we were leaving. The food was fantastic as well. The gluten free options were not only plentiful, but they were delicious. I definitely recommend this place.
