There are sooo many people out here missing Empress of China. Please find a new location if that's what's needed and bring back the very best Chinese restaurant ever. We are missing you sooo badly!! If I could give it 10 stars I would. I miss Empress of China. Best Chinese food in the USA. Always cooked perfect to order and never disappointed. Drinks were very good and always a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.I frequently made 20-30 minute drives, one way, to get this Chinese food. Please open again soon.

Visited in 2000, was Excellent. Revisited in 2019, nothing changed in the high quality and even had the same waitress. A fire forced closure late 2019, I sincerely hope they can reopen.

Sizzling rice soup, shrimp toast, mu shu pork, OMG, to die for!!! UPDATE: Just found out that they will NOT be re-opening after the small fire! This is sad! I know they've been a great part of Flint history. They started as Forbidden City then changed to Empress of China quite awhile ago. I know they've been in business for at least 37 years. At least!!! It's been my family's "go to..." place for celebrations for decades!
i have been dining at the Empress since it was known as Forbidden City Restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and the staff are very friendly. beef, chicken, and pork dishes are all wonderful and the spicier, the better! Their Hot & Sour Soup for Two with scallops is outstanding!
